The full saying was either combine the two of them or take half of Brolin and you might get one striker. Combine all three and you'd get a fast Giant Haystacks who couldn't kick a ball to save his life. Would make the Human Centipede look like a good signing. Fingers crossed. Both sides want things to move on, and from a Palace perspective it frees up a striker space

Better not say too many disparaging things about JP on here in case the folk at Genoa actually read this. So, I'm very sorry to learn he may be leaving after all his fine, hard working and skillful performances in red and blue and sincerely hope he gets the job if that is what he wants.
Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled. |

Well he has scored a couple of good goals, the Leeds one in particular and he lays the ball off better than Mateta - admittedly Most of us agree - neither are PL strikers and we do need a decent replacement. Hopefully now he’s back at Celtic, Brendon Rodgers will want Edouard back as he signed him up there. Then we’ll be shot of them both

If I was Parish I'd go about it differently. I'd be saying to Genoa "you give us £15m and we'll send JP and Edouard to your biggest rivals"

The first few times I saw him play I thought he was utterly useless despite the Brighton goal and can remember a bit of an exchange with other posters regarding it being a harsh / premature judgement. But he actually turned out better than I thought, has had a few big moments and ultimately been value for money although he's terrible under a high ball for a big bloke Watching Edouard gives me the needle. Makes Benteke look like a grafter.

Everything seems to point towards JPM leaving. I imagine then we'll sign someone to compete with OE. Eze and Olise would be a dream for a striker with positional sense and better movement. Well if they are looking for someone to compete with OE my Nan is available

I disagree with most of the disparaging comments on here. The problem being neither has been given a prolonged run in the team. Both have shown flashes of what they are capable of e.g Edouard’s goal at Fulham, Matata’s finish at home to Leicester. Both were excellent in their own way. It shows they are capable at this level. A run of games in the team and a few goals will breed confidence. Most forwards thrive when the confidence is flowing. I’d start with Ayew wide left and Eduoard centrally and give them a run of games. Also if Mateta knows he gets the last 20 mins then again at least he knows where he stands. Score and force your way in.
