Yup. Check the final tables for the last 15 years. Sobering. Clubs finishing top half with fans reasonably expecting their new standing to go on and on. 2 years later they're gone; and stay gone. This is what annoys me when posters talk about a lack of ambition and over tight purse strings. We do not have the resources to compete. That we went up was miraculous enough. That we have clung on for a decade suspends belief. BTW the romantic drama of our rise from near death pales beside Luton. That has to be one of the most remarkable stories of any sport. Agreed. Luton could be the new Wimbledon. Physical team with a tight ground. Or they could get blown away. Whatever it’s a remarkable achievement.

I was going to mention Luton. Remarkable really. Next season should be interesting.

The weed have a good manager good tactics and great team spirit. Won’t last. Ultimately they are a (for the Prem) low spend club as are Fulham and Brentford. You might as well have some serious thinking about why we finished above Wolves West Ham Everton and Leicester. They’ve all got bigger stadiums and bigger spend. Over time money talks. We are on a ten year run in the Prem. What more do you want. A few years back Southampton were the team to copy with players rolling off the assembly line and being sold to the bigger clubs. What happened ? maybe someone broke the line. Edited by crystal-purley (28 May 2023 11.58am)
Enjoying getting up later and not having someone who knows better than me (apart from the missus of course). |

Last time I saw him in a Saints top we were shouting ‘freak’ at him and Ventola scored a wonderful but ultimately futile goal for us… that was some time ago!! Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |
