The last three games of the season Phillips, Rak-Sakyi and O'Brien i believe will be available, i would start them in these games, so we can see how much they have developed.

Its not in Roys interest to play any youngsters unless he has no choice. He has been employed to get as many points as possible, not play youngsters, he wont be here next season.

At over a £ million per league position that's quite some gamble.

That would be extremely pessimistic of Roy. Follow the link below. 36 points is the new 40. Plus the shyte goal difference of the bottom 7 teams. We are safe. Today.

And anyway, are you afraid of the kids performing worse than our current weakest links ? One or two dinosaurs need retiring. Maybe we play the kids and we thump somebody 5-0.

For me the priority has to be a striker/forward and we will need two if Zaha departs.
It’s a mystery to me how Edouard scored so many goals even in as a poor a league as the Scottish one.
His movement around the box is non existent attacking neither the near post, the far post nor the six yard box.
He offers little threat to the opposition centre backs who can coast through games largely unchallenged.
He doesn’t seem to think or operate like a striker and I heard it mentioned that he likes to play off a striker where he may be afforded more space, but we don’t play this system.
He’s had a couple of decent cameos on the left, but not enough to demonstrate he’s the answer there if Wilf departs.
Mateta doesn’t seem to be the answer either, at least at first team level, so I’m hoping we will be active in the transfer market recruiting forwards capable of competing well in the Premier League.

Roy must now realise the problem PV had. Both mediocre, and I'm wondering why Roy has settled for Edouard at the moment? He doesn't make runs or link up play or offer an out ball?

I must admit yesterday I too struggled to see what Edouard contributed to the game, at least when JP came on you could see he wanted to be involved, on several occasions Everton had to put 2 defenders on him to stop him going forwards - I would hope that JP starts against Wolves in midweek -

Wolves will allow us more space through the way they play so it wouldn't surprise me if Edouard starts.

Everton was definitely the game for Mateta IMHO. He would have at least made their CBs work

I look at the league table and note that remarkably we are still in 12th place despite having taken 10 points out of 12 since Roy and Ray's return. Notable also is the statistic that we have a better goal difference than all the teams below us but not better unsurprisingly against those teams higher. It seems to me that we really need an out and out double digit goal scoring forward if we are to move up to 10th and beyond.

In a 4-3-3 the role of the number 9 is as much about hold-up and link-up play with the wide men as it is about scoring goals. Neither Edouard or JPM have shown they can offer much in this regard, the former looking a bit lightweight and the latter having terrible ball control. Firmino in his prime was the perfect example of how it's done. The fact neither of our strikers seem capable of scoring regularly means it is hard to see what either offer in games. Both might do better in a 4-4-2, but they have hardly proven themselves good enough for Roy to adjust his tactics for them.

Roy clearly didn't rate JPM at all barely giving him any game time after we signed him and so far it doesn't look much like his opinion has changed. Edouard is probably playing due to lack of options. Like others have said, I wouldn't be surprised to see Ayew move to the middle once Wilf is fit. I was excited when we signed Edouard but this season he has looked unmotivated and disinterested. He did run around a bit more than usual yesterday, but to little effect. I know it won't happen, but I'd like to see if one of the U21 strikers can offer something off the bench in the run in. It might at least lift the crowd as we all love to see a youth player make their debut.

IMHO I really don't think we will buy anyone. There will be a few of the non starters going out and Wilf and the bench will be filled with the academy players that are on loan and doing well . Just my opinion . Expect nothing and you wont be disappointed.

I’m convinced we’ll be active in the summer market.
As a minimum we have a number of first team squad members out of contract who are unlikely to be retained and will need replacement.
The younger players out on loan such as Rak Saki, Phillips, O’Brien and Plange are likely to go out on loan again so would not necessarily be available as squad fillers.

We may not spend massive transfer fees but there are some interesting players either out of contract or with only one year remaining.
The ex Fulham striker Dembele is one who springs to mind who apparently wants to come to the Premier League and will be available in the summer.
I believe Sarr’s value at Watford has declined with Watford struggling to make an impact in the Championship which could make him more affordable with less competition for his services.
I’m not necessarily suggesting these players are the answer but to illustrate the type of deals which could be available.
