Could you clarify as to what exactly constitutes 'drivel' for you? I really am unsure as to what you are referring?

I do think they generate a good atmosphere and I do also believe this may have contributed to our staying in the PL. It must surely help the team to have the backing and vocal support of fans. It's only a subjective opinion but I don't think you can call it drivel.

I am inclined to believe you have replied in the manner you have Maple given your allegiances to the HF and your usual overly emotive, reactionary keyboard warrioring, which would only perpetuate a stereotype, however I will await clarification.

Nick never posts “drivel” so would like you to elaborate on that

sometimes they leave us open for ridicule with their antics, in being a very poor 'proper ultras' tribute act

There is also an inferred if not intentional view of them trying to act intimidating or tough

a 'bunch of mollycoddled middle class boys who are badly emulating that they have seen through media', for lack of articulation, and a separate entity to the Palace fan base as I know it.

All of the above is rubbish. I guess you absorb what a few embittered and envious people have put out there.

I didn’t join them, they joined me. And we welcomed one another, finding much common ground. The main group are good people who do good things. Ask the food banks.

Why do older people insist on seeing the worst in younger people? Fear of irrelevance perhaps

My invitation stands. Come and see for yourself instead of portraying your guesses as having any kind of facts to underpin them

And learn to be concise! And the meaning of emotive.

Maple tree , I do not disagree with you , I stood with them for 3 years , (couldn’t afford season ticket after due to personal circumstances, ) and they are good people , and your right they welcome you , the atmosphere would be nothing without them

However nicks view was what was heard , Nick does not spout drivel , that’s all I’m saying

Emotive - arousing or able to arouse intense feeling.

Go round calling others' posts 'drivel' without any reasoning or substance is exactly that, you do this often and I am guessing as you want the reaction. If you have something to counter a post then say it, don't just start insulting other posters without clarity, it's cowardly... and highly emotive.

The HF is quite obviously a 'tribute act' to football ultras unless I and countless others have completely imagined this? You can claim they are a charity group of volunteers all you like however the points I referenced before are all things I have heard anecdotally, as I was not stating them as fact, and heard a lot of on here and within the confines of SP without much rebuttal. It was a suggestion as to why some people view them as they do, echoing much I have come across, not an attempt to portray fact through my own experience although it may well be the truth. I find it very believable personally, although happy to concede where actual facts are presented, and have heard enough to warrant at least some faith in my understanding. You may not be the only one knowing those in the HF Maple, remember that. I do not claim any allegiance to them whatsoever but does not mean I do not know those that do claim 'membership'. And if I did BTW, I would think it allowed me more right to mock them as I do to their faces, always in good jest... or would do anyway if I knew them of course, as I don't know any, not one, definitely.

The quote you have referenced was one in which I am somewhat poking fun at myself, echoing the comments occasionally on here but more so the grief I frequently get from those who upon learning/knowing I am a Palace fan (typically Millwall/WHU/Spuds/Chelsea and so on) usually express towards me - 'associated embarrassment'. If you have any doubt whatsoever as to the commentary non-Palace fans express towards the HF I am afraid you are in for a shock if you investigate. That's all based upon what they present to the world too, not just imagined, as a poor tribute act to European 'Ultras'. You also cannot do this BTW and then claim to be something else entirely when facing any heat. I find it cute you so aggressively defend them but try not to do it with such a whiny condescension, try and state facts and address the actual points. I'd genuinely be interested to read it. Again, this just perpetuates stereotypes in existence which of course you are adamant are inaccurate.

Nice to know they joined you, did you start the entire movement on your own may I ask?

No, they moved through a negotiation with the club. They were in Block B

I know, I remember! I used to sit directly behind the goal, always.

Now, without trying to post anything emotive myself, I'd like to echo that I do occasionally find them a bit silly however do appreciate that the HF bring to the club and have always defended them myself when speaking to non Palace supporters who focus upon them to try and banter me. In fact, I was once greeted with shouts of 'ohhhh, the Palace choir have invaded ahahhaah' upon one of my visits to the Dockers' Eat Upper Stand (I often make the visit to appease relatives who have never quite accepted my supporting the better side of SE London).

So that is still my stance, I was only ever offering something to the discussion. As originally stated, my ire lies predominantly if not exclusively with Palace fans and whoever is instigating or even participating in this fighting. That is most definitely embarrassing and quite frankly infuriating. I've never had the misfortune of encountering it but with so many kids etc in attendance these days I am inclined to believe I'd lose my cool. If racist comments are part of this, I do not recognise those people as fellow palace fans quite frankly. The idea of that is quite absurd when you think about it.

In any case, 'boo' tonight's result, any donuts who want to engage in scraps with other fans but goodnight to all on here.

COYP! I sincerely hope for better vs WHU!

Last night, for me, provided yet more evidence that the HF is if anything the solution and not the problem. It was a miserable affair (if there's another nuclear war, it'd be no loss if Wolverhampton is targeted first) and our support, unusually, was a let-down. But what noise and atmosphere was generated to spur on the boys came pretty much entirely from whatever HF contingent was there. I traveled at least some way back on the train with what I presume were some of them and they were good-humoured and boisterous (in spite of the game) and nothing but a credit to Palace. Meanwhile, (I was sitting "above" the HF in the stand at Molineux) a row of spotty teenage Palace-supporting yobs, entirely unaffiliated with the Front, spent the game desperately trying to look hard, openly vaping and smoking, and the second half dismantling seats and then holding them up in triumph so their "achievement" could be celebrated by all. There are, unfortunately, some complete t***s who follow Palace. None, at least that I've seen, are part of the Front.
