I'm totally mystified. Under Vieira this season, Ward simply looked like his legs had gone; finished. That's not a criticism; I love the guy but he looked to have passed over the Rubicon. Roy's arrival has literally transformed him; he seems to have lost five years overnight and isn't far short of being back to his very best. It's been little short of astonishing.

I think physically he looks a bit meaner as well, stronger in the challenge and I’m sure I see him almost growling at West Ham players yesterday

He was also out jumping them most of the game.

Maybe they've got him on a new diet. He had so much spring, pace and energy.

Great player, the idiots on here that have criticised him and called him a Championship player have all been proven wrong.Every manager he has played under since he arrived have realised what a good player and character he is.It really annoys me that we haven’t had a regular chant from the fans on his behalf, my favourite player, thank you Joel, a fantastic servant for CPFC.

Maybe if the rest of them were the same we’d have been better at defending corners

I know this man has had his critics over the last couple of years and I was one of them but I think this season he has been absolutely brilliant. Hes obviously lost what little pace he had but defensively he's been excellent and I think he's improved massively with the ball this season. For me he's miles ahead of Clyne and it wouldn't bother me if he was our rb next season.

I would have thought that too, but second half there was one sprint back (against Benrahma?) and I couldn’t believe how quick he was. Rejuvenated indeed.

I got vision, and the rest of the world wears bifocals.

I remember the exact same thing , turned to the bloke beside me and was like “where the hell did that come from “

The passion the man shows is beyond doubt what makes us as a club

Love him

And needs testimonial

To have been through everything since 2012/13 I believe, is quite remarkable.

How many players could still be a first choice against Man City etc., there can't be many even playing, and RoyH recently said he had got even better than his last period here as manager.

Every now and then Ward will have an exceptional game and it will be mentioned that he's still got it, and every now and then he'll have a mare and drop a clanger and it will be mentioned that he's not PL standard any longer and we new a new right back.
In between he's proven himself to be a reliable team member, and although we do need a new right back Ward is good enough for another year as cover at the very least.

About time the club did the decent thing and sorted him out with a testimonial.

Guessing it would be against Pompey with a few added nammes

He looks as fit as a fiddle and supplying good ball to Olise and Ayew etc.

Rarely see him have a dart I guess in the PL you don't get much opportunity.

I do remember a diving header against ManU.
