I believe my dear wife has developed a hatrid for 'Yours Truly' after she said she was 'Down in the dumps' after gazing into the mirror and concluded that she looked aged and frumpy. She added that it would cheer her up if I could pay her a compliment or two. She was not best pleased when my response was "Your eye-sight is top-notch". Edited by Willo (06 Apr 2023 3.33pm)

Waiting whilst the level crossing gates are down. There are two level crossings in quite close proximity. On occasions one has to wait for 1,2 or sometimes 3 trains to pass. 2. There is a road of just under 3.5 miles called 'Long Furlong'. Going home after a funeral at Worthing Crematorium. Turned on to the Long Furlong at Findon, and just passing the cricket ground when things got a little misty and the t*** in the car front of me turned on his rear fog lamps. It was a light mist, not f***ing fog. The dickhead then had the pleasure of my full beams in his mirrors until he decided to turn them off.

The number of times I have been responsible for the coarsening of discourse when I have been driving on 'Long Furlong'

I heard this expression on numerous occasions when I was in Australia a few years ago. Two other pet hates : 1. People who don't say "Please" or "Thank you". 2. Motorists who don't express their appreciation either with a flash of their headlights or a wave of their hand when one allows them to pass.It riles the 'Billy Goat' in me.
