He could have made things easier for everyone if he wasn't so obsessed in using Schlupp and not giving any chance whatsoever to other players. The public criticism of Edouard was not right too. What triggered his sacking in my opinion is the TOTAL loss of confidence from the majority of players which was more than obvious in the Brighton game. Good luck to him as last year can not be forgotten and lets hope his successor will be the right one.

Bit of a mercy killing to be fair. He looked lost in recent games. A nice man but too laid back for the modern game. You watch other coaches in the touch line and they’re constantly coaching the team. He never looked at ease doing that. I suspect all was not well behind the scenes. There must have been questions asked about his team selection with Ahamada and Richards coming in and not getting a game despite our results.

Sky Sports speculating that Parish may have someone lined up but no one who supports Palace would be surprised if we don’t. Ah well. Onwards and upwards hopefully! COYP!

When I heard this, I thought back to his early days, when we were playing better football than for years, the new players all looked great acquisitions, Gallagher's batteries seemed to be powering the whole team, we were scoring a few goals, and there was the occasional whisper that the manager's next move would be to Arsenal. Funny old game.

What a surprise! Did not think Steve P. & Co would react this quick, but something had to be done. We have been absolute crap since the season started again after World Cup.
Maybe the preseason last summer has come back to bite us (half squad in England, the other half playing in Asia and Australia)?
When we entered the Qatar tournament, we were talking about Europe next season, no one mentioned relegation.
Have a feeling the players took the break much too easy, thinking they were superstars. Went to Turkey and talked more about food and accomodation than football and training.
All statistics confirm this. Since the 0-3 humiliation of Fulham (December 26) we have been in free fall even the scorelines have been all right.
As it stands, yeah Vieira dismissed seems a sensible solution, but two days before the Arsenal game is surprising. Hopefully we have someone lined up...

I'm sure Parish has some names in his back pocket. The name in mine? Lampard. I think he's a good manager. I don't think managers in work like Kompany or Carrick in promotion possibilities will move into a relegation battle

feel sorry for PV players havent helped with lack of shooting and they have had chances to do so and passed , we have Olise Wilf Eze all good players how many shoots have the had in last 11 games let alone our strikers when we played them , that has been our downfall we should avg 12 per a game at least ,
and I tell you now you are not told to not shoot by coaching staff , when we played spurs we lost 4-0 but we had 19 shoots we have not got near that since ,

Think PV would have kept us up with the games left but whats done is done , who ever comes in i will be behind them simple as that ,

You watch us turn the Arse over on sunday lol COYP

I accept that lack of investment hasn’t helped, that the boardroom uncertainty hasn’t helped, the players have been lacking and that Vieira seems an engaging character who one would hope to succeed.
However, for all that the results have not been good enough post in recent months.
We caved in at Everton (when Derry apparently had his meltdown) , lost to Forest, lost to Villa, had heavy home defeats to Fulham and Spurs, went out tamely to Southampton in the FA Cup.
It’s not just the recent tough fixtures that have been the problem.
We are at or near the bottom of all the important metrics - goals scored, shots, running , sprints.
The team lack identity, fitness and leadership and in recent months has barely laid a glove on the opposition.
You can’t change the players at this stage, so the only option is to change the manager to try and galvanise a reaction and hopefully produce better performances and results.
We have to acknowledge it wasn’t working and there seems little point in seeking to apportion blame at this stage e.g it’s the board’s or players’ fault.

Yup. Even with the fixtures, we're the only side in the league that hasn't beaten a top 10 side this season. I thought he'd be given until the Leicester game, but appreciate that if they really felt a change was needed then the new manager may as well have the international break.

I said after the weekend that if the club didn't already have a succession plan that they could put in very fast after the Leicester game if needed, then they're totally incompetent. Let's see if there was a succession plan - should know today.

With PV's backroom staff also gone, who is stepping in to manage the first team for Arsenal this Sunday?

Not surprised by this morning's news, but am surprised it's happened before the break with the next game only two days away. It hasn't ended well, but I don't think it's been a bad appointment on the whole. I would like to think a replacement has been lined up, as long as he's not named Frank, Jesse or Rafa.

Either Parish has done his homework and there's an instant appointment, or it's Dougie on interim?
