SP Salary seems to upset people, for how many years after the takeover didn't he draw any salary ? (I think it was 4 years but I am ready to stand corrected)

I don't know if that comment was aimed at me but leaving aside the fact that £1.5m is an obscene salary for the chairman of a small loss making company my objection is based on the fact that he draws a salary, pays a large amount of tax on it and invests the balance back into the company.

It would be much more cost effective for the company if he didn't pay himself anything thus saving the huge payment of income tax which would be an enormous benefit to the club's finances

Hi ME -
Trust all remains good with you -
No wasn't aimed at you particularly - Although I am interested to know where the figure of 1.5 million comes from for SP salary -

I am not an accountant - but when I look at CPFC 2021 submissions -
(for an 11 month period , so not the whole year + during Covid)
As a layman I think I can see that the club employed nearly 300 people, with a turnover of £134,383 Million - Players wages represented £108,965 (81% of turnover) the club lost £40,209 million before tax & SP took a salary of £810,645 with no pension rights - (So £884,340 if its for a full year)

For a CEO with what is now 10 years experience + in comparison to what Managers & players earn, IDK to me it doesn't seem to be so far out of whack, now whether its the most tax efficient way of doing it is another matter but at least its transparent -

Maybe I am not reading it correctly or missing something ?

Does anyone know if the club pays dividends to the shareholders?

There are 2 other disclosures -

VMM £45,000 for "services" - VMM are a project management company so my guess would be that they are being used for the new stand project -

Smoke & Mirrors £156,000 for a tenancy agreement (IDK , maybe the Soho offices?)

Both companies are controlled by SP -

It seems that I misremembered. It was the year ended 30th June 2019 that Parish's salary was an obscene £2.6m which was re-invested into the academy but after income tax was paid

That is correct and probably not unreasonable if one wants a fairly prestigious London office

Then yes that does seem a strange way of doing things -
Maybe there was a simple explanation that dosent show up in the numbers ? ( Perhaps we needed to throw money at the academy project & paying SP with him paying the contractors / material supply companies seemed to be the best way of doing it at the time)

Parish held out last minute to get a really sweet deal for the club... fair enough, he's a businessman... however, a fan wouldn't have let us struggle til last minute.

Parish doesn't have the funds to take us further, that's apparent.

Parish makes a very comfortable profit from palace, palace use his side companies and one being 'smoke and mirrors'.

Parish puts off investors as he feels he has the last say.. parish spins this as he is protecting the club... protecting it from what?

Please do not tell me administration...

Time for Parish to sell up and let someone else have a go.

Good post. Agree with most of it.

I've never warmed to Parish. He's always struck me as an egotistical wide-boy who's as concerned with his own money and image (in no particular order) as he is with anything else but over time I've also tried to be fair and see the best in him. On the whole, he's done a pretty good job for the club. It's hard to argue that he hasn't taken us to a much better place than the one in which he found us, and it's also hard to argue that he hasn't been a pretty good general for Blitzer and Harris' investment strategy.

What I think now is that, like managers, CEOs have a shelf life. Parish's job, which was essentially to secure our future in the wake of the chaotic takeover, is done. He's served his purpose and, at present, entering a different era where pushing on should be the priority rather than laying the foundations, it's time for a new leader. If Parish wasn't so ego-led, even he might see that it'd be better to step aside. Unfortunately, I don't think there's any chance of that happening. He's in love with himself before anything else, and he'll never believe he's not the best man for the job.

Whether he's done a good job or not (and he has, for the most part), Parish uses the club as a personal platform. He basks in the limelight, he endlessly self-promotes, and I think if he walked away, he'd be giving up a significant part of his personal identity, not just his job. He's not going to do that, at least voluntarily.

He reminds me a little of Kenwright at Everton, another chairman with a huge ego who uses his football club as a prop for his personal image, albeit with a far greater negative effect on the club. If Palace is ever to really fulfill its potential, either Harris and Blitzer need to find a road to Damascus and totally change their appetite for and approach to running CPFC, or the present owners need to cash in their investment in a calm and orderly way by putting the club up for sale and waiting until the right new owner (not just any new owner) is found.

Sorry i disagree i feel much more comfortable with Parish who is a supporter than some outside investor who sees us as a plaything and drops us when the poo hits the fan. I was always one of the very very few who preferred having Noades as he was a safe pair of hands, built the Holmesdale and led us to our highest ever league position , no other chairman has achieved that

Well at least that video interview explains our loss of form over the last few games (ManU excepted) - PV, OR and the team were probably all too busy worrying, along with the Brazilian lot, about that left back in Belgium in the name of co-operation and took their eyes off the Palace ball for a bit...
