I can’t believe I’m advocating this type of football but we simply cannot compete with the big boys so why why try. Refs are letting more go, plenty more fish in that particular pool and if nothing else can you imagine Pep and like getting all worked up because little old Palace spoiled the party and didn’t just roll over. May also bring back the spirit that is being talked about.

I always thought Conor Gallagher played with plenty of spirit. Likewise, in our promotion season,Joniesta. They had great rapport with the fans. Our current team plays plenty with determination, but I don't see much fire in the collective belly - especially when things aren't going our way. Shaun Derry will be aware of this, but what is his role in the management team? Maybe just one astute signing might do the trick. Edited by auk (17 Jan 2023 9.41pm)

As others have said the Premier League is very different from ten years ago and I think the team from 2013-14 would finish rock bottom now with or without Pulis. I always thought that Roy built spirit and resilience in his teams at West Brom and Palace whatever your perception of his coaching methods (possibly as a result of them being so dull as has been alleged). There were warning signs of a softness in the squad last season but this seemed to improve a bit after Christmas.

You may be right, but if you are our owners are little more than a pair of idiots. We are exactly what we were when they bought us in the first place, possibly slightly better and more valuable today. So one wonders what kind of due diligence they did before buying an asset that appears not to serve their purpose at all. Perhaps we were just a practice run

The predominance of Afro- Caribbean cultural values may F***ing 'el. If we really wanted to descend into cultural, mass-labelling of our squad, completely separated from football, I'd look up 'Generation Z' which might be more relevant if anything is at all. Resorting to 'white players work harder' is a very strange comment indeed.
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |
