We're the team that everyone loves to play to turn their fortunes around. Chelsea has lost 3 in a row, and Felix is out. Sounds like an easy win for them, with Gallagher the MotM. No way we get anything out of this.

Can’t see our players and PV will fancy this game. We have got the World Cup hangover from hell. How about a nice 3-0 Chelsea win to round off the weekend nicely!

We are not going to get a better time to play Chelsea than we will on sunday. We might be out of form but they are out of form and are missing a ton of players through injury and suspension plus have played in midweek so will be less prepared and more tired than we will be. Settle for a draw but i am going for a 2-1 win - Zaha and a Eze thunder bolt.

I watched the game last night and when Felix was on the pitch I started to think 'oh f*ck, I really hope he gets injured or sent off as he's going to rip us a new one'. Five minutes later he inexplicably gets himself sent off. Chelsea looked lost last night with Felix the only bright spot and it is clear their confidence is incredibly fragile. I still have low expectations that we'll win, but you really couldn't ask for a better time to play them.

Whilst I think this is the correct view and that of the rest of the footballing world, I can't help as a Palace fan but envisage a 'response' from Chelsea Sunday with us the sitting ducks to accommodate it as best they could hope for... but what do I know!
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

As usual, I'm with you on this, Nic. (I do sometimes wonder if we are distantly related....from Kent....similar experiences and views on CPFC ie realism tinged with gut-churning pessimism. But enough of this drivel ...). On the other hand, for as long as I've been a Palace fan, I've always had this "thing" with my mates about how often a defeat against us has been the final straw for a manager's tenure. Almost as though anything can be endured by a club, but not a defeat against the Palace. It seems to happen uncannily often, and for me it probably started with poor old Frank O'Farrell after the 5-0 drubbing ManU took at Selhurst.
Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes) |

Chelsea might be on a dire run of form but they've either been playing Man City or been away. Unfortunately, Palace at home would be their fixture of choice this weekend.

Again, I really care not for any logic or evidence for this, but certainly a belief I hold haha. Another position I believe many Palace fans will be familiar with, I have been surrounded by a host of glory-hunting or 'big team' supporting associates in my time. If there was one marker for our improvement as a club, it was those rare occasions we'd manage an upset against a PL or 'top 6' (these days) side and I received almost no animosity, as though it were such a freak of nature they could crack a smile at it and pat me patronisingly on the head! These days there is a bit more resentment and I like that The time we knocked L'pool out of the (League?) cup 2-1 and Julian Gray absolutely had Carragher on toast after Henry told him he was 5hit still stands out for me

With so much uphill for Chelsea, it is bound to turn some time. Feel they will score early; get a confidence booster and we might end up with 4 or 5 behind our goalie.

Suspensions, injuries,no confidence in Potter, Chelsea on a losing streak, surely no better time for us to play them and win at their place.

Everything in our favour to get a result. However the team they put out collectively will be made up of better players than us so all it will need is a bit of brilliance from one of their players to create or score a goal even if they are collectively uncertain as a team. We are also not in our best vein of form to take advantage of their uncertainty.
