He had a tough childhood in as much as his Mum was killed which must have been dreadful and I have no doubt that growing up as a Royal is tougher than we can imagine.
However, this book is just dreadful - to air this in public is unacceptable and I hope that he and the wicked witch of the west lose their titles, any income out of this Country and so on - they deserve nothing from the UK now.
I think that he has acted dreadfully and he should be thoroughly ashamed of himself.
"Woe is me" while there is a war going on and people are suffering financially all over the world is so wrong.
All for monetary gain and nothing more.
Awful wife and thoroughly brainwashed young man.

I'd like to counter this

Fed up with the Germans draconian brand policing and being somehow held up as the last bastion of 'Britishness' both in terms of behaviour, status and so on. They're nothing more than a glorified tourism project – a sort of artificially sustained pastiche if you will. So to have someone high up actually start talking about the realities of life within that system is pretty interesting TBH. Also enjoy the fact that it goes against everything they enforce, from indoctrination down to what to say and how to act in public. The constant, ever increasing hypocrisy and self-importance on show from them all is galling.

They undoubtably have a net benefit to the country but a lot of people would do well to actually properly understand what they are and why they still exist.

As for Harold, whatever really – I'd challenge the 'he's only doing it for money and exposure' angle. They both already have more than enough money and I'd go with the anti-authoritarian angle more than anything... after years of being muzzled someone within the system has decided that he can't be arsed with all the pomposity and stupidity anymore and has just decided to go for it. Sure, I don't really like the whole sanctimonious americanistic angles around how they're doing it but it's about time someone actually came out and said what they wanted rather than having words put in their mouth.

A puppet cutting the strings. Makes for great entertainment.

I guess we'll find out the financial motivation from how much is donated to charity.

As for Henry if he didn't want the job then fair enough but he and Meghan have been out of it for nearly twice as long as they were involved together; this moaning has to end before long.

I would assume a lot of the money goes back into their foundation, but I'm not that bothered to investigate

Ultimately his choice if he wants to beak off, personally I find seeing the holier than thou firm squirm quite entertaining

My observation is people only seem to find it annoying if they're royalists, or at a minimum value the monarchy more than their actual worth

I'm not interested enough either.
It's not so much his targets as the lack of any self-awareness and towering self pity. There is still her book to come and probably another round of publicity when she dumps him and that becomes everyone else's fault as well.

more extracts,

"Shortly after my grandmother knocked me unconscious, I was woken by the caress of my step-mother who had placed me naked in a bath to soak by bruises. On getting out of the bath, I bent to pick up a towel and realised i was being penetrated by my step-mother wearing a strap-a-dictomy. I felt unable to tell anyone else until many years later when a publisher offered me loads of money to talk about things that never actually happened."

The revelations are so absurd - I just heard about how he attended Kate and Wills wedding with a frost bitten todger - that 2/3 of the way through I still believed this was an actual passage from the book .

he's clearly had a lot of bad advice, not least from his missus, although that does not alleviate him of responsibility. Along the lines of 'you've got to make your own money now and your most valuable asset is your story and what you can reveal about the royal family', so he's whoring it out to all and sundry.

You've hit the nail on the head. Realistically I'm not convinced Harry is the brightest bulb and has enough grievances and sibling rivalry within him, that he's not the hardest person in the world to be convinced of the rather American notion of 'speaking your truth' by his ambitious wife.

That's fine, and clearly financially that's where the money is, but sensibly it still makes sense to hold something back. People are curious about anything royal specifically because its another world and there is discretion and mystery to it. It's still possible to go too far though, and opening up about mounting a woman in a field and his frostbitten todger, is going from one extreme to another.

Quite sad really ... he's committed to releasing the book and has already taken the money so he's GOT to promote it. Eventually, he's going to run out of silly stories to tell and sell. I'm sure the Royal Family will keep him at arms length from now on so perhaps he really will concentrate in building his life away from them. It may be difficult, but surely he realises he's burnt his bridges?
