How many other clubs, that have been in administration twice in the last 25 years and are in our position of 10 years in the Premier. There are plenty of ex big clubs that would love to be in our position.
It’s no point saying the board should invest more, it’s a business and just pouring in money isn’t viable, as clubs need to be sustainable and we have been down the route of pouring in money and ended up skint.
The issue lies in recruitment, we just don’t appear to be picking up players in Europe that can fit into the first team. Teams like Brentford, Fulham and Brighton seem to do it regularly

I agree it's how you do things but as a counter to what you say the model upon which the club is run now is light years away from the model of one rich but often flawed owner/supporter which led twice to hearts ruling heads and administrators being appointed.

Some of this issue does lie at the feet of the owners as they run the place.

I think we all feel sorry for Doucoure not being given any support in centre of park. Schlupp, PV’s favourite just seems to run up and down with little composure or reading of the game. It beggars belief that Hughes is not given a chance to start next to Doucoure but I’m sick of saying it.

We also need an owner who will invest some money in the team. I could be wrong but Parish doesn’t seem to have much non club related money and our US friends seem distracted with buying other clubs rather than making one good/great.

Have always liked Hughes and don't see why he has not beed given more of a shout. Can't remember him letting us down when he has come on.

We miss Jimmy Mac more than I think some people see as he was a leader and reads a game far better than most at the club.

I understand the clamour for the inclusion of Hughes but when I look at the player I see someone who doesn't have that burst of pace, is a tad one-paced and his overall mobility is called into question. I do however recognise his technical and passing abilities.
I have a 'Feeling in my water' that Hughes will start tomorrow.
Hughes was Marco Silva's first signing at Watford.

Tomorrow Hughes will play and everyone will see why he doesn't play as often as people think he should!

Ok but if Hughes does start let’s be fair and judge him on any improved cohesion and structure he brings to the team hopefully giving us better solidity in midfield and also allowing our flair players like Olise, Zaha and Eze to get more attacking opportunities.

I also think he’d provide a better outlet or bridge for our defenders to find which has been shaky in the last few games leading to lost possession or Anderson hoofing it long as the only viable option.

Let’s see.

PV is only half way through his second season as a Premier League manager.

In the time he has been at Palace he has ;

Overseen a radical change in playing style
Integrated new signings in the summer of 2021
Lost three midfield players in Gallagher, MacArthur and Kouyate
Not had the backing in the transfer market to improve a very average squad

Yes, he’s made mistakes. And of course his team selections and tactics are challenged by supporters who think they know better. That’s the same at every club.

I’ve been disappointed with some of his decisions of late, but overall I think he’s doing a good job given the constraints under which he works.

He needs our support now more than ever because we have a tough few weeks ahead.

Did watch 2nd half Chelsea vs Man City last night. If Vieira sticks with Schlupp and Eze in midfield at Stamford Bridge, we will endure 90 hurtful minutes.
I would like to see Hughes and Luka (yes, the captain) together with Doucoure. On top Zaha, Maeta and Olise.

The issue of our most sustained run in the Premier is down to the owners.

AS much as I hate to agree to any plan that contain Luka, I'm tempted to agree.

Chelsea are poor up top, but strong in CM. The key with them is not getting over run.

Luka playing will not be a disaster at all.
Put Doucoure and others in front of him and he will be fine.
Drop Eze though.
To be fair we could not be any worse in midfield than we are currently so it has got to be worth a try!
