I've always taken umbrage at the ambiguity here. 'Lewisham' is a London borough and people can sometimes associate the usage of the name with the small surrounding area of the town centre. I say I am from 'Lewisham' meaning the borough and occasionally people assume this whereas more technically I would call home Forest Hill. Depends on who you are talking to I suppose, just wasn't often I'd meet someone, especially professionally, who had the foggiest where Forest Hill was! Furthermore, I do like the notion of being from 'Bromley' when you live in Penge, that always tickled me as beyond ludicrous bettered only by 'Dulwich' when you were from Brixton, Peckham or Forest Hill! I never heard anyone do it but there was a supposed trend of pronouncing certain places differently so they lived in

There was a story, I heard it about Glasgow, of a bloke who parked his car and was approached by some scallywags who offered to watch his car. He pointed out the slavering Rottweiler in the back seat and said - he minds my car. He came back to find his car on a bricks and a note reading - Hope your dog can change tyres.
I have heard a variation :

You can name all of the forks at a fancy restaurant. And you actually eat soup correctly.
