Looking at our results so far there’s no shame in losing to Citeh, Chelski, and the Gooners. Disappointing to lose 3 to Lampard’s mob but it’s a tough away game. Our draws against Newcastle and Liverpool away were a bonus and perhaps made up for the late lapse against Brentford at home. A poor game against Leicester away but we’d take it. Our 4 wins have been against teams we’d hope to beat if we’re going to improve on previous seasons. Overall we’re about where we ought to be in the league and our points tally is about what we might expect. If we maintain this form we should finish 10th with 45- 50 points. Sign a half decent holding midfielder and a right back and who knows! The current top 6 plus Liverpool will take the European slots but I’d be delighted with 8th position and above the Weed!

Clubs like West Ham, Villa, Everton and possibly even Wolves should be finishing above us based on their financially outlay in the last few years, so it's really a question of management, luck (on the pitch and with injuries) and whether those teams can live up to their spending. Personally, based on what I've seen of the PL so far, I think we'll finish somewhere between 12-16. Like others have said though, a couple of quality additions in January (especially a defensive midfielder) and we're not too far off finishing in the top 10. Equally, a few injuries to key players and we could easily be drawn into a relegation dog fight given how close the league is this year.

you missed the point... a team that finishes 14, let's say it's us, as an example, will only have had 4/5 more wins than a team that finishes 18th. So a cup run where we get 5 extra wins, goes a looong way. Example, we finished 12th, had 4 more wins than burnley that went down - 11 wins out of 38 isn't amazingly enjoyable but it's good... but we had 4 extra wins in the cup which adds to the fun. I think this season will take 46+ points. Seems to me there aren’t 3 stand out teams for relegation and anyone in the bottom 14 can beat anyone. I can’t call who will go down this season and it’ll go down to the wire.

As for us, one way of assessing how we are doing is comparing our results this year to the corresponding fixtures last year. Despite losing to Arsenal and Citeh (so 6 points down on those two fixtures) our results elsewhere leave us 4 points ahead of the corresponding fixtures last year, as follows:

Table wise we are all right, but cannot see many points away. Everton played us off their park and scored 3, yesterday Leicester played them off the same park away and won easily 2-0.

We are 3 points better off than last season after 13 games which considering our tough start is not bad at all. COYP
One more point |

I think 50-55 points is very do-able.

Our win today means we are now 6 points better off than in the corresponding fixtures last year (see my earlier post).

However, let's not get too carried away. The last 3 home wins (Leeds, Wolves and Saints) were all close and could easily have all been drawn. Over a season these things do seem to balance out. However, if someone had offered me 19th points from 13 games without playing any of the promoted teams i would have bitten their hand off. Let's build on this
