Is there is anyone really happy with signings this year, it's basically a good championship team this year, there is a problem within the club to help provide quality players that can make the difference, no new stadium why not put extra 2 million for Connor to come, Americans again they are only here to earn, rumours repeatedly reporting they will sell this year, quick money grab, while us Palace fans thinking wtf, something really strange is happening at CPFC and I hope Parish sells the club so CPFC can move forward not two steps back.

I ought to change my name since I am nowhere near as pessimistic as the vast majority of fans on this site - yes disappointed that we didn't sign anyone in the last part of the window but not pessimistic to the point that we'll be relegated. IMHO, we'll be fine, even if we possibly won't improve on last year's points. I see us for the tenth year in a row getting somewhere between 40 and 49 points. Don't forget that we have had the toughest start of any team and that will be even more the case once we've played the next 4 matches. Edited by doombear (02 Sep 2022 4.02pm)

If Zaha had been sold I would be most concerned about surviving Some people criticise letting Kouyate go but Doucoure is a massive improvement - he can pass a ball but Kouyate and Luka can't, so that's a big 'plus' If we had found a holding midfield general I would have been very optimistic but think we have enough quality now to survive comfortably. My main caveat is that We have young, skilful and attack-minded players but the manager does not seem to encourage them and appears to be reverting to the Roy Hodgson negativity of 'protecting what we've got' 1-0 leads need more goals, not holding out. Remember how many points we lost by conceding late in the game? Zaha's comments after the Brentford game said it all.

Can’t believe the level of misery and pessimism. I suppose it’s down to losing a late equaliser to Brentford and not bringing in anyone on deadline day. We looked well capable of a top 10 finish a week ago despite losing to Citeh. We brought in a keeper, a defender who can play anywhere across the back, and a midfielder who is a serious upgrade on Kouyate. Eze is back from his injury and looking great, Olise is improving game by game, and Wilf is staying for the rest of the season. We have a nice blend in the current squad. I’d like to see Phillips, Rodney, Wells-Morrison and Ebiowei getting some game time this season as subs rather than Luka, although I guess experience will play a part. Between now and January PV needs to decide if Hughes and Riedewald are up to the job and If not they need to be moved on in January. If Ferguson can get himself fit he may solve the right back issue long term, if not we may write him off in the summer when his contract ends. PV should focus on these questions for the next few months. It’s obvious we don’t have a lot of cash to spend and we need to be clear about who we spend it on. My guess is we can afford one decent signing. January will be a more important window for us depending on results this side of the World Cup and assuming Wilf decides not to sign a new contract. Knowing which of the current squad is surplus to requirements would be good before we go spending more money. We will finish top half this season albeit probably only just!

With our bid for Connor,£27m,we at least gave Chelsea fans a good laugh. Would be feeling more confident with his joining us once again on loan to equal last season's placing. However, too much quality to go down in my view.

Last season was very competitive , this one looks as if it has got tougher ,teams that struggled a bit have strengthened , and promoted sides look stronger than most other years. We have to surely be not as strong as last season , Gallagher, made us a better side, we don’t have him or any one that might give us something similar, even Benteke contributed a few goals , and was regular in most games form 90 minutes to 2.

Probably finish somewhere between 16th and 18th. If everyone stays fit it could be higher, but that’s a big if. First 11 can look good but the squad is full of players who are old and/or injury prone. I think there is every chance that the board may be having to splash the cash in January to survive and will rue the fact they didn’t invest in the summer. I think the annoying thing is a £50 million spend on 2-3 players and a quality loan in and we could have been pushing for Europe. Through my entire 50 years of supporting Palace time, there always seems to be something that stops us, just when things are looking good. On that note, probably relegation and having to start again.

I cant believe some of the negative rubbish i have read on this thread from some people . So what has changed from how positive people felt last season compared to this ,we have lost C G but hey as most people have said he had a season of two halves last year yet we still performed second half of the season. We have lost Koyate but i believe upgraded with Dacourie, and finally we lost Benteke and his goals . How people can make the comment that we will only get 1 point from the next 3 games is absolute eli walachs If you look at the first five games three of which were against teams that will occupy the top 3 at the end of the season we were not slaughtered , i thought Arsenal after the first 20 mins we matched them and could of snatched a draw.If we had been adventurous against Liverpool i think we could of won.City two refereeing decisions our way would have seen us 3 0 up against 10 and Brentford was poor subs from PV. I think there are some on here on a wind up with the negativity

I think you cannot just stand still. Look at Leicester great squad no business have lost momentum. It's psychological. A loan Bats or similar gives everyone a lift. Letting Kouyate go and loaning out top youngsters on the fringe of the PL are the not the sign of an ambitious club.
