I agree with most of the comments on here and share your disappointment. For all the various reasons mentioned.

One annoying thing for me is this trip would have been great for bonding the squad closer together. Now they have lost that change.

I also think Liverpool & Man Utd have sent out decent squads so we are probably going to get a battering. At least we have an excuse ready!

The usual excuse, you mean, that the squad has no depth?

Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes)

I'm also flagging. Have two seats in Q9 MSS Silver I think it's called. $129 each. Would love to make some $$$ on them. Even $100 for both. But no point them going to waste so will reluctantly give them away if it comes to that. DM me if you want.

I am not specifically defending anyone on here & for sure fans frustration absolutely must be a factor to be considered, but these pre season tours, clubs probably sign up for them some 6 months in advance, it probably starts out as a commercial decision more than anything else, (grow the global brand) then some time down the road it becomes a sporting / logistical challenge with the finer details of who can go / who is fit / what do we as a club want out of our pre season etc etc - its not unusual for clubs to pull out of these things when what started out as what seemed like a good idea at the time turns into a operational nightmare - with all thats gone on I personally think that this is something that we could have probably done without but it will be a good learning experience for the club as a whole & how often do we sit here saying that lesser names & talents need to get more game time, well with one squad out in the East & one in SE25 for sure game time will be available.

Quite frankly - with the amount of USA money invested in the club & the growing interest in USA investors I am surprised were are not going out to there & would certainly forecast that next seasons pre season tour will be in the USA.

Albeit a long time ago (circa 1980 ish) I was in Miami & we found out that Norwich were playing one of the University sides not far away, we went along & were surprised to see a bunch of Chelsea supporters at the game, we started chatting to them & they were telling us that Chelsea had originally been billed as the main participant in this tour, CFC subsequently pulled out & Norwich were a last minute replacement so these guys had paid all that money to travel to the USA & see their team & ended up following Norwich around for that section of pre season.

I really don’t get it. If Zaha Guehi and the others aren’t going because of Covid restrictions - the club must have known the risks before they confirmed the tour (March) (Djokovic, January). If the point of the tour is to promote Palace - well it’s the best players people want to see. I can’t see any positive from this.

I agree

agree PV is being diplomatic.

Let's see what side we put out against Ipswich on Sat. It will definitely be stronger than the team that plays against Liverpool on Friday. I suspect the odd player has fitness issues e.g. Tomkins and Ferguson, however, the majority of non travellers are due to their vaccination status.

If this tour is meant to increase the club's profile and also make us some money. It could get embarrassing.

The squad travelling doesn't look much better than the ones we send to play Bromley and Dulwich, and yet we are playing Liverpool and Man U.

These are the teams which these mini tournaments have been primarily set up for. Likes of Leeds and us are making up the numbers. Be interesting to see how many people turn up/turned up to welcome our squad at the airport. BBC won't be reporting it for sure. This is probably more reason to send over a good squad and try to upset them. Feel for the fans involved as they have been short changed.

So much negativity and people guessing.

Remember by splitting the team, they have UK friendlies to play.
and
if the team traveling, lots get Covid, then that could disrupt pre-season.
So makes sense.

Many factors, leaving people with the guessing

Easy to say when you're not spending thousands on the trip...
