Come on, give it a rest. Luca has been a good palace servant, whatever you say, and I, for one, will send him off with a 'Good luck' and 'Thanks for everything, Luca'.

Comments like this just remind me how short people's memories are and the amount of trolls (or is it orcs) on this site. Whilst it's true that Luka hasn't been the player he was, it was not that long ago that we relied on him, like Jedinak before him and McArthur as a reliable part of our midfield that gave it much needed steel. Let's not forget as well all the penalties he put away which there is no doubt contributed to us surviving another season in the prem. We all know when it's time for a player to move on and that time has come for Luka, but good riddance? Nah, more like good luck for the future and the hope he recreates the presence he had in our squad for another team out there.
The trouble with computers, of course, is that they're very sophisticated idiots |

Sometimes…a change of club can revitalise players. Different manager, coaches, training approach. If he does go, then I would of course wish him the best of luck. He has been a real ambassador for Palace. Ok, not the player he was a few years ago, but still deserves respect NOT….’good riddance’. Edited by VinceHilaire (31 May 2022 1.16pm)

Do I want Lombardo running out for Palace anymore? Absolutely not. Does that denigrate his once ability as a footballer and the contribution he made to former clubs? Absolutely not. Luka was the man we needed at the time however is not that anymore. I do not desire to see him playing for us next season however wish him the best of luck, a very sincere thank you and would like to say he is forever welcome at SP in any other context.

Just because he is not part of the future, doesn't mean that he hasn't contributed to our past. ITs time for him to move on, but don't hate on the guy

I disagree. I think the 3 mentioned in the article are all worth bringing back. Agree with parting with Kelly, Tomkins, Benteke and Luka. If Jairo and Clyne are cheap enough then keep them on. I think Ward will end up being a backup CB (and possible stop-gap at RB and LB), so Clyne and Ferguson (if he's ever healthy) at RB. We will have limited cash to throw around so I'd rather spend it on a good midfielder (Decoure from Lens). Keep MacArthur and Kouyate (DM or CB). Gives us some experienced hands for injuries and to show out games. Originally posted by Lanzo-Ad
i wouldn't have given anyone except Schlupp, and maybe Kouyate if no new CD is on the cards, definitely not Ayew or McArthur, or kelly and Tomkins, and try and "sell" Benteke, Luka and Jairo, Clyne depends on if AWB is coming on loan

I blame Orc school.

You're right (uggh, never comment on the internet after too many), I apologize to all. That being said, I don't think he's played well for the last 3 years. He does put in the occasional good play, but he usually slows the play down, commits way too many unnecessary fouls in poor areas (including the occasional red), heads the ball up when he has time to control it, and is generally a detriment to the team. Add to that his off-field antics (idiotic partying in the heat of Covid), and he hasn't done much to win me over for years. I'm just not a big fan of his. I think the team plays much better without him in it.
