Agent Roy's last appointment has been a 99% success story and will be a 100% one after Saturday.

My opinion is he did well for one year with us and the rest was us clinging on with out of date managerial techniques that have ultimately been found out at Watford.

People say he didn’t get the money Vieira had but he would have probably only spent any money on safe pairs of hands rather than the Andersons, Guehis and Olises of this world because that is the way he operates. He loved players like Milo and Cahill because it suits his rigid defensive approach.

In summary, thanks for what you did but I’m pleased you are gone and please retire gracefully from top level football as the game has moved on and your family deserves to benefit from your retirement.

I was inspired to start my first thread on here in 2020 when the vitriol being spouted about Roy seemed to reach a crescendo.

Along with most others I disliked the football we were playing, but we never seemed in real danger of relegation and Roy was almost certain to leave us at the end of the season. It seemed harsh for so many to turn against him, especially as he was a boyhood Palace supporter.

He kept us up with a motley crew and little chance of bringing in new blood. But, of course PV has been a breath of fresh air and we can all be delighted at the changes we've seen this year.

Like many others, I was surprised he took the Watford job, but he has now publicly said he's had enough. A football man through and through and, in management terms, a safe pair of hands, but never exciting.

He deserved his CBE for services to football and it's right that he gets a respectful Selhurst send off, but I'm very pleased he's no longer our manager. Like I wrote earlier, I think he'll be secretly pleased if we thrash Watford on Saturday.

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

People need to be careful here we do have a record of messing up against teams like this and the way this whole season has been anything could happen.

It's sad to see Roy go out like this when he took the Watford job I looked at what players they had and thought with a few extras they will be safe. (They adding no extra players)

Not sure where you are coming from Mort. Unless Watford win their last 4 games they are down as Burnley and Leeds already have 34 points and Watford can only just reach this target with 4 wins but have a worse goal difference. Leeds are effectively the only team that can keep Watford up.

They might show a bit of heart against us given their apparent dislike but a draw puts them down and I am sure we are capable of at least that.

Wasn't Goodby (Denmark?) where one of those Viking ships was, off the top of my head? Roy will probably know as he's a bit of an intellectual. Googling it would be cheating.

Brondby. Roy Hodgson may or may not have managed there as the case may be. Looking at Wikipedia would be cheating.

Clinton Morrison summed it up well on Sky when he described Roy as establishing us as a Premier League team.

Four years managing us in the top flight without a serious relegation battle following on from other managers who either lost the plot or fvcked off bitching about recruitment is impressive IMO.
