Yes I believe so. Would be a shame as it would take the gloss of perhaps not a glorious season but certainly one far better than I had anticipated and with far more promise than I usually hold.

On the plus side, I had been in hospital most of last year, and recovering at home since.

My season ticket has been put to good use of course but Monday shall be my first time watching this 'new-look' Palace live. I shall enjoy it no matter what! I may even treat myself to an absurdly over-priced and worryingly dubious 'meal' at SP. Another 10 months in the hospital will be worth it! COYP

I am sorry to hear this but delighted that you are recovering.
Kind regards to you.

Much appreciated Willo, I am fine now thanks.

My primary health concerns are solely related to Crystal Palace related worrying and barely containable rage at everything remotely related. Getting better with both however.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

Sorry to learn you've been poorly Nick and trust you're well on the road to a full recovery.

Enjoy the match next Monday. Try not to let the excitement get the better of you!

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

Mr Nic

Would never have known you were a poorly soul, glad to hear you are on the mend & long may that continue. You have been(imo) a voracious poster, displaying a inciteful & calm air amongst the usual dross & doom mongers.

This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise.

We all know Lanzo likes these type of threads but a couple of things to add.

Firstly, whilst the investment of £70m has been high you have to remember that last year we had an ageing squad and many were out of contract so we needed to spend money just to stand still. Look at the centre backs - we lost Dann, Sakho and Cahill. So we needed to spend just to have a sufficient number of CBs. I personally think this money has been well spent.

Then there is the strength of the Premier League. Most teams get better - so you have to spend just to stand still. Villa have spent a lot this season for example yet are in a similar position to us. Leeds haven't spent much and have had a disappointing season.

Then there is the timing of your post. 2 weeks ago Vieira was God after we beat Arsenal. 3 defeats later and he is worse that Roy!!!
I think as with all managers he has strengths and weaknesses but on the whole he has done well.

Ah, that's lovely once again!

I thank all the well wishers however would like to note I was not intending to illicit any sympathy lol just adding context to my post!

COYP - I'll finish by adding that Leeds have had a 'bounce' however as we all know these do not last forever. I thought it may happen with Newcastle however sincerely hope it does happen Monday night! I'm sure many will be keen to arrest the slump in results we've had recently

Glad you're fit enough to return to the glamour of Selhurst Park. I hope you bring some good fortune for yourself and the team.

The football has been much more entertaining to watch this season without a doubt and i think this is the direction we all want to go in.
It was SP and DF intention to bring in a manager that would take us to the next level in terms of style and success.

The cup game has left a sour taste for me, as the team set up and changes did not work one bit in a match where Chelsea were not performing and were there for the taking.
it felt like there was no heart or determination from the players and it is up to the manager to install this.

Read an article that there is another person calling shots on the tactics? not sure how true this is and didn't pay much attention at the time of reading.

For me the jury is out as i am struggling to see what he is bringing to the table, as the players brought in have bee sourced by DF.
PV man motivational skills seem to be lacking when the chips are down and his strategy is sometimes very odd.

for me this squad is a Dougie Freedman set of players but with a different manager controlling them.

Well I'm much more optimistic than I was this time last year. Roy was getting worse with each year, we used get thrashed against the big teams and go for 0-0 draws against some of the average teams. As soon as we went 1-0 down, we were screwed.

Now we have a different manager (who makes mistakes and is still learning) and some new players who are exciting to watch. He got it wrong v Chelsea, no doubt, but things are looking much better for me.

The og poster seems incapable of looking further than his myopic viewpoint.
During Hodgson's final season there were a number of players whose contracts were due to expire and clearly were to be offloaded. Therefore PV had to carefully manage expectations, bring a positive style of play and gel a new set of players into a team that some cited for relegation. All on a limited budget.
Apart from the odd tactical / sub decision here and there Vieira has done exceptionally well, let's remind ourselves again, first season, limited budget, new players, positive style of play, cup semi final, likely PL football next season.
Anyone who knocks PV for his contribution this season is frankly a fool.
