Very difficult to get decent lamb here, so I do miss the Roast Lamb, but what I really miss (& I tried to buy it at Xmas) is the Golden Syrup pudding you used to get, have they stopped making them? I think Lyle's used to make them. That alongside Vanilla Ice Cream, custard or even evaporated milk.

Not that I know of....... but a simple steamed sponge pudding with a V E R Y generous squeeze of one of these in the bottom of the basin is bang on. A regular winter treat for he-who-must-be-fed.

We've got a small chest freezer in the shed, which we found a couple of joints in the bottom of. Going to have roast beef for the next 2 Sundays/weekends before we replenish the freezer with new stuff from the local butchers.
I disengage, I turn the page. |

Agreed. I have a 40 minute return drive every Friday to an excellent butcher after I've been to Sainsburys as the quality of the meat is so much higher - even humble mince meat. I'm sure that if you closed your eyes whilst eating a Sainsbury joint you wouldn't be able to tell what it was.

Waitrose meat at the butcher counter has always been good. There are decent butchers dotted around in each area outside of London that used to either be a village or small town that is now getting larger. Warlingham, Caterham, Banstead. They all have one or two. If you are a big Tesco town, probably not. Edited by Rudi Hedman (16 Apr 2022 3.02pm)
