Wow, Mr negative. You are right that we still have to play all those teams below us. On the flip side all those teams below us still have to play us. And we can relax and play whereas they will all be playing with nerves and panic. I sincerely hope you are right and I am wrong, however the facts are that we are on the upper fringe of the relegation battle and until we have more points than those behind us can achieve then this remain a real possibility. We have won once on the road all season to date and like it or not PV appears to have had similar problems at Nice where 37 away games produced only 0.9 goals per match. Even PV admits in his latest press conference that he is aware that if the teams below us continue to show improved form and we do not improve then we could be dragged in to the drop battle ourselves. That means we have to start converting the chances in to goals and our so called strikers need to deliver. You have to win games to stay in this league draws are not going to keep you safe. Even now there are some on here who still believe that Europe is a possibility which is just fantasy, we currently could not be further away from Europe if we were based in America. PL survival is so important to this clubs future so it has to be our first priority each season, playing attractive football is pleasing on the eye until you end up in the championship or even lower (look at Sunderland/Charlton) and frankly I do not want to go there!

May I congratulate you on an excellent contribution to the debate. In relation to our respective positions after 23 games last season and the current season : 2020-21 : We had attained 29 pts and the bottom three had attained 15,12 and 11 pts. Two teams below us had games in hand. 2021-22 : We have attained 25 pts and the bottom three have attained 17,15 and 14 pts.Five teams below us have games in hand. Turning points that have been frittered away due to lack of overall game management into deserved wins has to be the priority for the second half of the season. We're nearly there: PV has done exceptionally well thus far and now has a nearly fully fit squad to select from. It's a matter of small margins.

The club has and is going through a huge change in playing style and I for one think PV has done a great job so far. As for relegation, I feel very secure with our progress and with the class of player and good moral we have, just can't see this happening. Yes it is true that none of our players are 'beasts' or cat-kickers etc

I imagine Roy will do all he can this afternoon to conjure up a Watford win over Brighton. That will be very helpful thanks.
Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled. |

For the first time in years I see Brighton as being more consistent than us and they will probably finish higher than us. I have no problem with this as we are a team undergoing change and are a couple of seasons behind them in that respect. If they smash Watford 1-0 it won’t bother me at all.

Thanks, I agree its not going to be a walk in the park this year and staying up at any cost has to be our goal. what concerns me is that the last time we had a protracted cup run our league form in the second half of that season was very poor and it was only the points earned before Christmas that kept us up!

It's just that Roy, being a Palace lad himself, may want to put one over on BHA. I don't hold out much hope for their chances of survival though. If he keeps them in the PL his star will shine very bright indeed.

Yes, but that was under Mr Pardew.
