I say that as a former ardent monarchist. I'm not really sure what the best system is anymore, not that I ever did in the past.

I know people think she's had the easy life, and in many ways she has, but it comes with lifelong obligations too and there is a level of respect towards how she carries out this duty. Still, everyone has a different take I know.

I'd rather a monarchy than our current system. Not with Charles though. I presume he won't be King Charles III anyway, the others were not exactly auspicious. Charles II and the Restoration was one long party. Charles III will be one long sermon.

Hope she has a good weekend/ day. She put alot of effort into the peace process over here so I for one am very thankful. My Grandmother who was originally from Donegal always made us be quiet as she said her Christmas speech. Better not put a Union Jack outside my house though just incase. Still a few loons about!

She excelled in the sketch with Paddington Bear. Great fun, but not quite up to the 007 standard.
Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled. |

Exactly. In this 'Tw@tter' and 'Dork Web' age of instant reactions, weirdness and extremes, it's quite reassuring to have a steadying influence who acts with dignity and decency despite the challenges around her. In my view she's rarely put a foot wrong, and you certainly don;t have to be a royalist to think that. I have to agree. The queen represents the country and has been a constant through most of our lives. She has done the best job possible and should be respected as a human being on that basis. The questioning of whether a genetic entitlement to a title is acceptable in the 21st century is a valid one, but one must weigh this against the alternatives, none of which seem particularly appealing.
I'll probably be the only one brave enough to ask that on here.

Im hoping she reigns for at least another 2 years, mainly to stop the French(*spit*) from keeping the mantle of having the worlds lonest reigning monarch. Louie XIV 72 years 110 days The 'BOSS' has reigned for 70 years 110 days upto & incl today 5th June
This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise. |

It's certainly imperfect and I fully understand arguments to the contrary, but pretty much reach the same conclusion. As for your take on the Party at the Palace, I'll just politely say that well known music artists come from a variety of backgrounds and most of those present are known to by favourites of one royal or another, which may speak to their presence. All in all it was a positive show I feel, as were the celebrations as a whole . Edited by BlueJay (05 Jun 2022 2.15pm)
