Mps are quoted as saying people should pay the same or less tax.
Net zero emmisions should not mean zero tax revenue.
So here we have these cars basically forced on to us. Half the average lifespan of a combustion engine powered vehicle and paying a lot more for them. Alongside paying the same tax. Ally that to the stupid heat pump revolution costing 3 x a standard heating system and it gets worse financially.
Now I might be wrong but were we told that it's not about money it's about the planet and money is not a factor.
Seems it could be a big factor!

I wouldn’t worry about it. There will be a revolution first.

Unless of course Putin gets his way and starts a war.

I'll be undecided until I have to replace my petrol Corsa, which might be another year or 2. Hopefully, things will be more clear-cut by then. but i doubt it.

Here's one of the more famous electric cars. The car is still there on the moon, in perfect working order. It just needs a charging point.

One 10,000th of 1*c temperature reduction if all targets for electric vehicles achieved. Ha ha I knew it was all bollox and pretty much proves the point.

As an aside....

I remember discussions a few years ago about the need to give an EV an artificial engine noise in order to alert pedestrians and cyclists to their approach. As someone who lives on a main road, I was gutted at the prospect of a potential peaceful future being dashed.

But, as far as I'm aware, EVs are in fact pretty quiet, so I assume the artificial noise thing never came to pass.

I believe that they do come with 'sound' or without - driver selects.

A blind friend & his guide dog had a very close encounter with a 'silent' one last week.

All EV's are required to generate noise at speeds up to 30mph.

My son's Tesla creates a Dr Who style noise, while mine makes an unholy whining noise.

I deliberately turn mine off, not because I dislike it, but it makes me focus on pedestrian activity.

Most vehicles have autonomous braking anyway, and I can confirm that it is a very effective system.
