I think we will know the answer to that when we see how much Burnley spend in this window or will the owners trouser the £25m.

In the summer window Burnley paid out about £29 Mill for 6 players but sold Gibson to Norwich for about 8 Mill.
They have of course received around £25 Mill from the sale of Wood.

I've just looked at his EPL stats for Burnley - 144 appearances, 49 goals and 7 assists. No contest really.

And they bought him for 15 million so a 10 million profit to boot.

I don’t blame Burnley selling at that price, I’m not sure he’s the sort of signing Newcastle fans thought they’d be signing though when they became the richest club in the world

Maybe Burnley will make an offer for Benteke

Sometimes simply money doesn't always work. If Newcastle were bubbling under the top six or even just mid-table imagine the type of names that they might attract in this window. But there is no European football on offer till August 2023 at the earliest (assuming they avoid the drop).

Perhaps the appointment of Howe and the purchase of Wood is rather underwhelming for them.

The new owners arrived with the club in a relegation battle with the January window not open for a couple of months.
Had the takeover been completed in the summer with Newcastle in the PL and the window open, I suspect it would have been a different story.

I think I more or less said that.

Bentenke probably would get goals for Burnley, but there's no chance he's going anywhere this window. I'd put money on him being here until the end of his contract. It is worth noting that Bentenke has 4 goals and an assist in just over 1,000 minutes this season, compared to 3 goals and no assists in almost 1,400 minutes for Wood.

Burnley fans don't seem that torn up by this deal questioning Wood's effort and commitment and stating that he's been missing a lot of easy chances (sound familiar). He's a big presence, but if Burnley get £25m you have to say that's a cracking deal providing it's put back into the squad. I've also read that Burnley want a different profile in the player(s) that they plan to replace him with, focusing on more mobile players that can play across the line.

Norwich look finished, but out of Newcastle, Burnley and Watford it's hard to call. Things could change, but I don't see any other club being pulled into a relegation dogfight.

That makes it even more good business by Burnley. A striker on the wane, and to Newcastle as they are now 25 million is loose change.

Edit: as Benetek is currently more 'prolific' than Wood maybe we can get £27 million from the Geordies for him?

In other words, desperate signings in a desperate bid to stay up
