I'd expect and hope that the attitude of the players is a lot more positive than that shown by many on here.
I know it's been a few years since we last experienced it but it's called optimism.

To use a well-known player's phrase, 'to be fair', I think most fans on this site are generally optimistic about our future based on what we've seen so far.

As a number of us have said, the next 7 games are winnable but that doesn't mean we'll win them all by any means. Currently, there are only 2 other teams in the PL who have an unbeaten run of at least 5 games, namely Chelsea and Arsenal. All the other 17 teams have lost at least one of their last 5 games.

in the last two rounds of fixtures, we've seen Liverpool drop points to Brighton, Chelsea drop points to Burnley and Citeh losing to us and all 3 of those big clubs were at home! In other words, it is unwise to count the proverbial chickens...

I am hopeful that we will gain between 11 and 14 points out of the next 7 games but that is based on there being no unforeseen injuries, sending offs or yellow card thresholds occurring (Gallagher, McArthur, Ward and Andersen are currently on 3 yellows).

Having McArthur and Gallagher go missing at the same time wouldn't be good at all.

In 2015-2016 Season we had 16 points after 11 games and then 31 points at half way mark (19 games).

So that would be good target to have in mind. So, can we get 16 points from 8 games. (5 wins and a draw or 4 wins and 4 draws). Seems a tall order but not impossible.

Mind you, in 2015-2016... after such lot of promise the first half of the season, our second half of the season was dire (apart from the Cup run) and getting any points was a struggle and we started to flirt with relegation towards the end and Pardew got sacked as that form continued into the following season.

That's a points return of 2 per game.. looking at those fixtures, it can happen..

If we won 3 of the next 7 I would be ecstatic. Anything more than that is extremely unlikely and unrealistic.

Burnley will be an interesting challenge as the high press won't work and they'll really test Andersen and Guehi in the air. I expect to see Dyche deliver the biggest aerial bombardment since Dresden. It's the sort of game I could see us dominating but losing. I'm actually more confident about the other six games. Anything over 10 points would really put us in a strong position for the second half of the season.

I too have a feeling that we'll lose this one. Burnley are recovering after a poor start. As has been said - a difficult one.

Also, Saints have been a thorn in our side for many a year and that one's a real toughie.

Just our luck to be meeting Villa just after Gerrard has stepped.

I know I can be somewhat of a Palace pessimist but I'd be happy with 7 points and absolutely delighted if we got 8-10.

Strangely, I have better feeling about the Manure match.

We have had winning streaks before but this seems different. There are some very good reasons why we should be expecting to be winning the majority of the next 7 games :
- our opponents over the next 7 games are not as strong as those we have already played
- we have so far dominated every game apart from Chelsea and Liverpool away
- we are a much better team than at the start of the season and getting better every week as the players gain experience of playing together in the Premier League.
- PV is a much better manager than at the start of the season. He is learning how to hold on to leads and to come back from deficit positions.
- we have ‘new’ players who haven’t played yet this season - some of these like Eze and Ferguson will challenge for a place straight away. Others like Hughes will provide very strong backup when players get injured or suspended.

I will be disappointed if we don’t get at least 12 points from the next 7 games

I think 12 out of 21 is a good and realistic shout

Jackson.. Wan Bissaka.... Sansom.. Nicholas.. Cannon.. Guehi.... Zaha... Thomas.. Byrne... Holton.. Rogers.. that should do it..

That would mean we won 9 games in a row so no. Although each game individually is winnable. If we won 4 or 5 and were around 6th to 8th position at Christmas that would be terrific.

we are due a bad game and a slip up... but that happens. it's not the end of the world... but if we carry on with he same mentality... 12 would be an amazing return and (justified).

JMac may be out for a short while; Eze still not fit; Anderson might be unfit for a few games? Gallacher is one booking away from a ban.
We are likely entering the "reduced squad" phase where our bench will need to step up to the plate.
10 points from the next seven games would be more than acceptable.
