It's hard to step back sometimes from the barage on that particular thread.
All started by an overtly racist tweet which was designed to cause division, probably in the knowledge he would be backed up by the usual suspects.
Tom asked many reasonable questions, to which people refused to/couldn't answer.
They carried on accusing him of being a racist, despite his ethnicity, and he snapped. Don't blame him at all.
Appears this site allows racism if it's in one direction and any stand against it is met with howls of derision by a select group of ultra woke poster's.
On a yellow already and don't really care about another.
If the mods had had the spine to red the original provocative racist post we'd still have Tom.
As I said an utter disgrace.

The thread in question wasn't debate it was just a small number trading personal insults. It was a red card waiting to happen and should have been shut down earlier.

Whilst it is not the policy to defend cards issued to members on this site, to prevent any further acrimony please be aware that Tom's red card had nothing to do with the thread, or the subject matter of that thread.

After numerous, successive yellow cards he was warned, from the top level of this site, that his next carding offense would be his last.

He directed personal abuse at another poster.

The rest, as they say, is history.

I didn’t know Tom was black. Not that it matters at all, but you have a picture of someone in your head and mine was of a 50 year old white fella that loves boxing, was a funny f*cker and loved a bird.
Is Willo a 60 year old white fella that loves a cardigan?? If not I need to start paying more attention.

Does anyone actually know Tom/have met him to verify that he's black? Not that it matters, just the maths weren't mathing on that one. And I really wasn't arsed about him calling ME a t***, I probably am one to some people, subject to opinion. Dunno why people get so riled up on an internet forum, it's for discussion, log out, read a book, have a w***, do something else.

Rules are rules though, I'm sure he was aware of that.

I am white, 70 next year and do wear a cardigan from time to time.
