By your 'logic', presumably we should have statues of other terrorist, racist murderers, such as Hitler, there at some point? Edited by georgenorman (11 Jul 2021 9.24am) How do you work that out? I don't think this guy ought to be there either. All I said was that debating the reasoning is healthy.

I had never heard of this guy before and whilst I agree it's an odd decision to put him on the 4th plinth, it is obviously correct that to do so has created interest and debate. Which is always healthy. Your description of him though has cherry-picked only those little pieces that support a particular agenda. They need to be seen in their context, which is very much more nuanced than they alone suggest. For a more comprehensive analysis of his life, and his death, read this:- [Link] That's like saying that Ian Brady was a nice bloke apart from those little episodes of torturing and murdering children.

Sometimes NO is sufficient. Unless you are a young lady being propositioned by Tom, no is rarely sufficient.

I think the 4th plinth should be a statue of Southgate kneeling while receiving Mancinis manhood in his mouth

Clearly it is like that, as you described ordering the beheading of someone and then preaching a sermon with the head on a pole, as "cherry-picked only those little pieces". The tendency of the left to make excuses for various racists and murderers because it suits their agendas has been around for many years.

The point is that we don't actually know that much about him do we? We have a Wiki report. Not exactly a Court of Law. We don't know if he was a murderer at all. It's reported he led an uprising and spoke with a decapitated head beside him, during a time of violence and oppression. Brady was tried and convicted of several murders. So no comparison. Yet. The very fact that this man's history is now being evaluated is healthy. Maybe he will eventually be cast in the same category as Brady, but I think that's unlikely. Whether he deserves a place on the plinth is another matter, and I have already said it seems a strange decision to me.
