I answered the question. George Floyd got called ‘scum’ on page 1 of this thread. Other posters won’t see this as justice being done and believe Derek Chauvin was in the right.

Anyone in their right mind could see what he did and the guilty verdicts are no surprise.

So the justice system worked.

Did it work because America has inherited an excellent and fair legal system from us imperialist Brits allowing trial by peers?

Or did it work because some thugs in London threw bicycles at horses?

I’d like to go with the former. However, the former option doesn’t fit in with the narrative that the system is broken.

There’s not many legal systems in the world that would convict a police officer in a case against a criminal who was high on drugs. The US justice system must be pretty robust.

No mention of the crime being racially motivated so far.

It’s also in line with the report that came out last week that said institutional racism doesn’t exist in the UK.

Cops often avoid accountability for horrendous behaviour in the line of duty in the States. I don't even mean across racial lines, just generally (if anything it's unfortunately that it's solely painted as a racial issue). Their role is a tremendously difficult one and it's not difficult to argue that it sometimes attracts the wrong kind of person as result. In this case, what happened was so unnecessary and caught on copious amounts of film, that there was less chance of an automatic 'get out of jail'. His ego meant far more to him than the man he killed and the voices of people correctly pointing out that he was in the process of doing do. It's right that he went down for it.

So someone who robs a pregnant woman at gunpoint should not be called scum? Come on Dan surely you are better than that, think if it was your partner!
Chauvin s actions were appalling and he deserved to be punished but Waters/Biden getting involved pre verdict was outrageous especially Waters comments. I can see the US having trouble recruiting police officers in the future.
