Edited by Willo (24 Jan 2021 11.21am) Knowledge isn't necessarily a sign of a good Character. As chairman of a business, you'd expect him to have an excellent knowledge of the industry and to interact with his customers.

To be fair, I doubt you would find many other top flight chairman who hold coaching badges and are qualified referees.

That was Jimmy Hill back in the 70s.

And Herman Hreidarsson. Bought the league then claimed to be a decent manager. He would never have given his employees that kind of backing. In a way it highlights his contempt for the fans, running his own vanity project instead of appointing a specialist, ultimately almost bankrupting Brentford. If Parish or Jordan put themselves in charge you'd be livid.

Goldberg was manager at Beckenham, Bromley, and Welling. Jimmy Hill was a player, manager, chairmans, and official, Dave Wheaton was a player and chairman who said he'd made all his money from football and was happy to lose it all on it Our last 3 chairmen have all been supporters of the club, two left bankrupt, whilst one stuffed his pockets with cash.

His intention to merge Wimbledon, Charlton and Palace into a South London '' Superclub '' comfortably blows that out of the water !

He loved the club so much he destroyed it to line his own pockets. Agreed it took an idiot like Mark Goldberg to help him do it. Mark's problem was that he was a Palace fan with stars in his eyes and not enough money to own a football club. Noades used his retained ownership of the ground as a pawn in his pursuit of personal gain. It took years of pain to get over the damage hes did to the club. this is spot on. If you love the club why rip us off so much after you've left. Continuing owning the freehold almost destroyed us and don't forget he also still owned the training ground so made millions out of that too. Yes, Goldberg was a complete idiot but by shafting him he shafted us. I've seen a copy of the lease agreement when Noades owned the ground - 7.5% of all matchday revenue and Noades received everything on non matchdays. After getting £23m from Goldberg and years of rent afterwards plus the training ground i always wondered why he didn't just sell the freehold back for say £5m as a gesture of goodwill. Rose tinted glasses indeed
