Not sure he's as good as he was before his injuries. Perhaps Gallagher from Chelsea is a better option.

Agree we now have Eze who can play LC role

Correct so we should be concentrating on tying down Guiata, as I suggested before Clyne

Do we only have one person that deals with contracts?can they only deal with one at a time?
Maybe there are 2 people , but they only have one typewriter

I think we need to keep all expectations low and should anticipate no movement during this window.

At time of writing, our squad is pretty much in full health, we have made a strong start to the season overall (except losing to Burnley and Newcastle which still angers me!) and there don’t appear to be any major weaknesses in the squad that are in desperate need of strengthening.

Rumours however have re-emerged if a move for Christian Kouame, a player whom Parish confirmed earlier this year we had a £10 million bid agreed for. Likewise, a last minute reported £25 million bid for Ismaila Sarr before the summer window closed suggested the type of player we are still after as well as there being money in the kitty.

A transfer window is always an exciting time however this year, I’m going to have to reign it in slightly I feel.

Are we really talking about the same team, more specifically the team/squad that have an average age just under 30, have a very aged defence, who are prone to injury are slowing up with each game and who have not kept a clean sheet in the last 15 games,we have midfielders who find it hard to pass the ball to their own team and then we have strikers who are either permanent sick notes or cannot score goals, run or even head the ball to their own players and who have little or know ground skills or position awareness! Then we have directors who are wealthy enough but do not want to invest in the team, as they want away. Then there is the overall team performance on the pitch, far from a reasonable start more like a team wanting to be relegated! Do we need investment in new players?

No, of course not. We are Palace!

Firstly, I think you are being a little unfair to the OP who established this thread after the Spurs game.

Secondly, we are talking about this specific transfer window. We have a full squad and unless we can offload one or more players during this window either through sale or loan, then there is little point in increasing our wage bill.

Thirdly, trying to be pragmatic, I don't see any activity occurring during this window beyond the possible recruitment of a youngster or two for future development.

Sorry do not want to be unfair to anyone, however I do believe I'm being realistic and to be honest you're probably right about transfer activity and if that is indeed the case then we are certainly in big trouble!

I don't disagree with your post as a general assessment of our situation. I get very frustrated at our lack of basic skills at times - so many promising moves undone by either poor passing or poor decisions

Like3wise, our ageing squad can only deteriorate if nothing is done.

I think we will survive this season but it may not be a comfortable journey to get there.

For me, the summer is key with regards to:
1. Who we let go
2. Who we retain
3. Who we bring in

I don't think we will make sweeping changes but we do need to see at least 4 of our oldies out of the door and at least 3 younger players brought in (Mitchell is now 21 so will count as one of our 25 next season). We must also hope that one or two of our U23s/18s will be good enough to join the first team squad.

Happy New Year and keep safe

I agree with much of what you say but we are 12th in the league 11 points above relegation. Over the next 2/3 transfer windows I think we will see some new blood. But we have had success in picking up players in their late 20’s that are proven at this level but no longer regulars in their side. I expect that policy largely to continue with the odd younger signing.

14th and two of the teams below us have two games in hand so could overtake us

Don't anticipate much change during this particular window unless Poch makes a significant offer for Zaha.

Cant Believe we wont try to offload Meyer and Sakho, both contracts up and a loan until the end, Puncheon style, maybe even cancelling Bats loan, and bringing another player in
