At that price the risk is mitigated (presuming his wages are sensible) and so probably worth a go, but there is very much a risk there.

I don't entirely agree with the argument that he isn't good enough for Leicester but would be good enough for us. That very much remains to be seen.

There are of course a few players who can't get in their side but could get in ours, but that doesn't mean all their reserves would improve us. There's a big difference between the likes of Choudhury and Perez who have proven, when picked, that they are good enough for the Premier league even if they're not good enough for Leicester, and the likes of Gray who hasn't.

Hamza Choudhury is tenacious, makes challenges and displays a lot of energy getting around the pitch.Has based his game on that of N'Golo Kante.
He used to clean Jamie Vardy's boots at the club.

Don’t rate him very much myself but it’s a game of opinions.

He's a player that a few years ago we would have been excited to sign. There have been question marks around his focus and effort, but whether that is because he hasn't felt loved, who knows. Possibly if we signed him and showed that we want him to succeed and replace Townsend then that could be the incentive to get him back to his best. Looking at his record the last two years he's been very much a bit part player, this season only appearing against us as a sub for 18 minutes and last season only amassing 600 minutes.

The one potential issue with this is that if there is genuine competition we may end up having to offer a higher contract to someone who has not really earned one. A 3-year deal on sensible wages and a low transfer fee and it would seem a risk worth taking in my view. We are certainly a club who like to sign wingers with flair over end product!

I’m beginning to hope it’s Zaha that goes - I see Townsend as a good squad player. I am still to think that we can play Zaha and Eze together as they both are liable to give the ball away and prem football these days punish you for that as we have found out. Let Zaha leave and bring in Demaria which hopefully means he is on the bench whilst Eze becomes our new Zaha?

I can see the possibility of Zaha playing out his days at Palace and then working his way through becoming a top Manager for us eventually.

Schmichael - probably get in over Vic but on a par
Justin/Perrier - would start in our side
Evans - would start in our side
Soyuncu/Fafana - both would easily start in our side
Castangne - would start in our side
Barnes - starter, more of a threat and consist than Eze
Ndidi - would start in our side
Tilimans- would start in our side
Madison - would start in our side
Vardy - difficult one with the options we have up front, but I would just lean towards Vardy hehe!

Leaves Wilf really

Grey is no where near this side and neither is 95% of our team. My argument that he isn't good enough for Leicester but would be good enough for us is perfectly reasonable given their superiority.

I think what also makes it attractive is just the fee. 1.8m is great value for 24 year old, British creative attacking player. It’s what we need, another option. Unless you have any other suggestions?

Gray on a total package (transfer fee, wages, signing on fee) of 16 million for 5 seasons would be a song. An absolute song. And I would be happier about this than any transfer we've done since Wilf.

This stuff about his character is wretched. Get him in. Play him every week. Stay up a few more years. Easy. Please make it happen Palace.

If you want to live in a world full of kindness, respect and love, try to show these qualities.

It's a bit of a punt but if the figure quoted is correct, one worth taking. I think he could work out.
If on reasonable wages for say 3 years he would still have some value half way through, if it hadn't worked. Age would still be ok too.
