Um, I put the link there. Goodness knows where you put your glasses Originally posted by Mapletree
Goodness knows where you get your data. I have checked multiple sources on the relative rates of infection from food based bacteria over the past four years. The USA is considerably less safe than the UK. It relies on chlorine instead of excellence in food production. Less safe, poorer quality and poorer lives for the animals. A race to the bottom for super cheap food.
Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance. |

Ah, you finally responded So that is the only source of your knowledge? Do you know the history of The Adam Smith Institute? One of the four least transparent think tanks in the UK for funding. The prophet of private profit. A 'right wing think tank' which was much favoured by Margaret Thatcher. I suggest you do some more research. Especially into Listeria deaths 260 deaths in the US per annum, an average of 7 in the UK. The US has a population 5 times the size of the UK. You do the math...

He's from my generation and a Consultant so probably an expat and not an average HK citizen. In truth the average HK nerd would have researched before posting.

Salmonella causes 1.35m infections, 26,500 hospitalisations (about 8 per 100,000) and 420 deaths per annum in the US. In the UK we have 8,600 laboratory proved infections per annum (about 3 per 100,00 population but note these aren't hospitalisations) and zero deaths. The UK has one fifth the population of the US (328m v 67m), just as a reminder.
