At work now we have to appoint a 'Covid representative' in addition to the standard health and safety, fire reps etc. I'm not sure if it's the same in the UK. It looks like some Covid reps are going to be taking the rap.

Especially when most of the suggestions they could make that would cut down the spread would also likely negatively impact the business.

The factories are chilled As a result the virus doesn't die naturally at the same speed as usual. And the workers are very close together. A recipe for transmission if anyone has the disease. It shouldn't be passed on to customers through eating, no sign food carries it. But in a freezer the virus can survive up to 2 years, so be very careful touching frozen meat.

The packaging is the carrier. Wipe down all packets and boxes and mail. Wash all fresh fruit and veg.

Appalling conditions blamed for spread of covid 19 in meat sector: There have been so many outbreaks in slaughterhouses across the US and in Europe which have led to sickness and even deaths of of workers that the conditions need honest investigating. Local communities in Germany and America have been shut down too. Even the outbreak in Leeds was kept hidden from the local community. 3 more slaughterhouse workers test positive for coronavirus in Midlands: The report states that: 'On Thursday more than 450 workers at four food factories in England and Wales tested positive for coronavirus. Health officials were closely monitoring clusters of new cases linked to food processing plants, amid concerns about potential outbreaks similar to those in France and the US.
