As readers know Santa keeps his elves working all the twelve days of Christmas. If we are looking for anything earlier, we have to hope that SP and DF have established contact with the transfer fairy. The tooth fairy visits when children are asleep, so the telltale sign is sleeping bags being delivered to the training ground.

I reckon the same. He is on loan which will be become permanent for around £12-15m (pretty sure that's what i remember being touted around) if he plays more than 50% of the games. If doesn't play 50% of the games we have no obligation to buy him. If this is the ploy by the management then i doubt he will play tomorrow but could feature more after that. i cannot imagine we would ever spend close to £15m on him tbh. THink you reading too much into it. If he was good Roy would be playing him.

As I posted elsewhere we need players urgently. 40 points is the minimum requirement to stay up and we need to stay safe! 38 points is enough for safety most seasons. Last time more were needed was 2010/11. That's 3 wins and a draw from where we are now. No need for any panic buys

I agree with no panic buys but the points this season down the bottom are pretty high hence my 40 points scenario.

I doubt if we will sign more than one player and another on loan. The club is up for sale, negotiations are apparently ongoing, so the Americans aren’t going to sanction much spending especially with our current league position.

If we can get three quality players who can go straight into the first team I'd be delighted with that but a lot is going to depend on whether Wilf stays or not.

No need for any panic buys I agree that we shouldn't panic buy, but if we don't get cover then there could be long-term implications with PvA already suffering due to being rushed back and other players like Kouyate, Kelly and Wilf all playing through injuries. It's all well and good saying "when players return" but that is relying on us not getting more injuries due to players being forced to play when perhaps their body is not fully up to it.

Look at what happened to Newcastle yesterday FIVE injuries in one match (four of which Bruce put down to the congested fixture list and a lack of serious options in his squad). I expect Roy to put out a virtual reserve side for the cup game so that the first team squad still standing get the time to recuperate that they need. A couple of reinforcements sooner in the window than later would be more than welcome

I was reprimanded by a moderator for including this paragraph in a post about injuries in Palace Talk. I thought it had a legitimate link to the previous paragraph, but have now removed it and am giving it a post of its own in this transfer thread. "Meanwhile what kind of inward transfers do we need? We had always needed a new RB, creative midfielder and striker. Do Wickham and Pierrick provide alternative strikers? And what are our defensive priorities in view of the absurd injury list?" I remember when we used to get linked with everyone then either sign someone disappointing or no one at all. Looking through all Transfer Talk on various sites, we hardly get linked with anyone now. Doesnt bode well for Roy's 4 or 5 players.
