That's the other point. If he comes to Palace he knows he will be first choice striker, so this is all about the money if Chelsea compromise I am optimistic. If it happens it will probably be late in the window when Chelsea realise no one will pay their price. I think you're right. There have been other strikers rumoured such as Mateta, which might possibly mean that he is doing his shopping in Sainsbury's or that Freedman is in quarantine after another failed effort! Time or Dazza will tell...

Looks like Palace might be about to shift their focus towards Edouard? The sell on clause could be negotiated down a bit?

Lots of comments on the Celtic boards that he might not be fully fit and has looked disinterested so far this season. Also that he doesn’t play well as a lone striker - maybe the thought is that he and Batman would be good together.

Trouble is maybe that Bats and Edouard are similar types of players, foxes in the box? But maybe that doesn't matter, with Zaha Eze and Townsend making chances? Any way, from what I can tell, no actual bid has gone in, so perhaps just yet another 'rumour'?

I don’t think Eduoard is really a poacher-type - possibly (hopefully) more of an Alan Gilzean type scorer/provider for those who remember him. Or as you say it’s all made up anyway.

Thanks for that contemporary reference! No issue with 2 good fit players doing the same thing if it fits within our play model. Expect to have at least 7-8 players of our 25 squad injured at any one time. Percentage odds mean one or both will be out for weeks/months.

PS I would be surprised if we buy him. I suspect we will stick on current strikers now we have added Eze, Bats and freshened up development with Matthews. Between now and Monday I predict no buys. Between now and 16th Oct, I predict Downes with a loan back to Ipswich. I then predict a clamour for the head of Parish/Dougie/Roy. And that's it. PS I know as much as anyone else. My prediction is utterly worthless; and despite my pessimism, I will still religiously check the news feed every few hours (instead of working) and then post useless, ill informed comments on this forum. Like this one.

Like this one. To be fair, I would usually be a part of that mob but Batshuayi and Eze are two good acquisitions. If we don’t see Ferguson for some time I’ll be peeves but what we’ve done so far is better than usual
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

Like this one. I agree. I am delighted with Eze and Bats. In Banks and Matthew’s we have a couple of players I reckon will become really valuable. Ferguson will be class, hopefully, and if we can get Clyne fit, he could be a blinding freebie.

Yes, I now realise you’d have to be about 60 to remember Gilzean. Apologies to younger posters! PS he was a good player.
