Having looked at this thread, i looked at the BBC report on Saturday's match. True to his word Roy had three academy players on the bench. By definition Academy players are in a lower league just like the Championship which has given the P L Sheffield United and Wolves, and a couple of useful young English Managers. The three on the bench must have impressed Roy, and need PL game time to develop. sadly Roy (unlike for the Bournemouth Match first (and only0 did a substitution at 86 minutes. Who knows what the result would have been had Meyer - on the field at 65 minutes been joined by two of the Academy bench members at 70 minutes. They might have shone as brightly as AWB did. COYP

At the sake of repetition, there is nothing to suggest this is anything other than a vanity project with some shiny powerpoint from an architect and possibly a lovely model in Steve P's office. The broader question is do fans have a right to expect truthful full disclosure from owners and chairmen, I say not. We like to think we do but we don't. The CPFC2010 team is in a different position to many other owners/past owners as they did save the club from extinction. That in the opinion of many makes them immune from criticism for ever. I am pleased for those from that group who managed to sell and make some money, well done and thanks for your part in the history of the club. There is a fair bit of chat about the team " reaching the next level ". If we stop becoming perennial participants in the relegation dogfight then we will have reached a next level, and considering what Roy has had to work with in terms of inherited players and lack of cash to spend is something of a miracle in itself. And, forget the new stand while current ownership structure in place. If we have new owners in control with patience and pots of cash we might get some stadium development Happy Xmas to all Originally posted by southnorwoodhill

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance. |

No one is immune from criticism in perpetuity; be eternally grateful by all means, but future actions must be judged on their merits, and not on the history, which, at best, can only provide mitigation for future mistakes.
Bexley Dave Can you hear the Brighton sing? I can't hear a ******* thing! "The most arrogant, obnoxious bunch of deluded little sun tanned, loafer wearing mummy's boys I've ever had the misfortune of having to listen to" (Burnley forum) |

We are certainly on the path to having to replace a number of players who are either in their 30s or will be in 2020 : An ageing squad and a rebuilding will be necessary but those listed above will not swell the coffers to any significant degree. Edited by Willo (23 Dec 2019 9.29am)

Yes, unfortunately we've managed to get ourselves into a right Catch 22.

It might not be that long when we are in pitchy seas when we will not so much flounder but succumb to the tempest, each wave picking us up and hurtling us further from the shore. We will be creaking like the 'Mayflower' in a gale. You will start up, we are doomed relegation forecasting soon. Toughest league in the world and we are 12th, a disaster is supporting teams like Stoke, who’s fans have put the whole team up for sale on eBay.

I have not used the words "Disaster" in terms of our prospects but I am reminded of the song "There may be trouble ahead".
