The Tories would be delighted with any of the runners and riders now listed for Labour leader. Thornberry is almost as slimey and irritating as Diane Abbott. I hope Caroline Flint successfully defends her case in the courts. Keir Starmer? A knight and a millionaire as a Labour leader would be a first. They need someone who is quick-witted, sensible and (especially) articulate to survive the hurly burly of Parliament. Still think that Stephen Kinnock would be good for them and give Boris a run for his money at the despatch box. Unlike his father he is too sensible to be selected and one of the younger women will get it is my guess. Man and boy Palace since my first game in 1948 sitting on my dad's shoulders

Certainly one of the more interesting issues over the next 5 years. Cummings is a native Northerner (Durham I believe) and has a special loathing for what he see's as the Metropolitian elite so if he is running the project then it could be an interesting strategy.

Labour must be giving thanks for the Brexit party. Without them the massacre would have been even worse. Their own party chairman barely survived.

In terms of voters, outside of the city, it certainly doesn't make any sense for the Tories to try in London anymore.

Yep, they surpassed themselves with Kissinger, it makes Obama look like a mere chuckle in comparison.

Personally I like Jess Phillips but she has criticised Corbyn and is to the centre of the Party so Momentum would need to be challenged and beaten. If Kinnock can do what his dad did and take on and beat the far left then he would be a good choice. A few others Andy Burnham, Caroline Flint and Dan Jarvis. It'll be hard for any new leader but I believe that, as BJ said, votes have been lent and anything lent can be regained. I believe both Brexit and Corbyn (rightly or wrongly) had massive negative impacts for the Labour vote and with both these things gone (hopefully) by the time of the next election it is just about possible for Labour to make serious inroads if (and it is a big if) they can get their act together. Another poster pointed out that in the red wall areas people would not even think about voting anything but Labour. I suspect anyone who did vote Tory kept their mouths shut. Now that the wall has been broken Tory is no longer a dirty word and the longer that goes on the easier it will be for the voters to pick and choose their parties. Labour may get back in but I doubt they will ever have the knee jerk vote back. It's like your local pub the governor has to work hard to build up the clientele however a new governor can lose his customers in weeks and never get them back.
