How many songs can you have with the word Love in the title. Now the Rolling Stones were true musicians before the Beatles with a great love of the Blues (And loved a cover version) As for Paul Weller he is a God that has lasted over 4 decades, inspired generations and created and influenced youth sub cultures. With ever evolving music. Lyrics that poets would die for and chord progressions that composers can but dream about. He is certainly underrated I may be a bit biased As I think the man is a God PS I don't mind the Beatles (Paul Weller loved them and plagiarised them) but its always fun winding up Beatles fans

To an extent I think you had to be there at the time to fully appreciate the Beatles and what they did. I'm not sure what song writers and musicians you are referring to, but before the Beatles came along, and indeed for some time after their emergence, in the pop world songwriters and musicians tended to be two separate entities.
