All four businssmen risked their capital but their belief paid off. We can argue all day about where the money to create CPFC2010 was found - as a debenture over its assets as stated above in Parish's case or whatever.

All of the original shareholders took debentures over the club's assets to secure their lending not just parish

Not sure anyone is saying we are not proud of what we have achieved in recent years. We are just asking why we can't push on from here. Wolves etc finished above us last season, what have they got that we haven't ? We had a £50M right back and a £80M forward plus other £30M signings !. In my opinion anything less than qualifying for Europe is a poor season.

This ;

And, as if that wasn’t enough, the company he founded in China in 1992 - Fosun International - is racking up huge and growing profits.
With 2017 profits of £1.5bn, sales of £10bn and assets of £60bn, Wolves fans can be happy in the knowledge that their owner is unlikely to run out of money, even though the Chinese government is less approving of overseas investment these days. Half year figures for 2018 continue to break records, with a 20 per cent rise in revenue and 17 per cent growth in profits.

Above is stats behind the Chinese company that bought Wolves.

So you can borrow large sums of money without any risk to your own assets? Wish I'd known that before!

What does that have to do with your original statement that he risked his own money?

As well as - risked capital when there were no other options. The administrator had run out of money and we hit liquidation day, 1st June. The degree of risk and lack of alternatives would seem linked to me.

Parish is an excellent PR man whose evident skill amply explains how he ran a very successful PR company and made millions.

He transferred these skills into his running of CPFC, where he's on a massive salary and has received at least one huge payday by roping in American investors. He is now pursuing another whilst employing a survival business model to keep palace in the premier league: meanwhile, the PR machine is in constant overdrive, bombarding fans with messages that put crap players and managers on a pedestal and keep us onside with false promises of new stadiums/stands: a smoke and mirrors trick that has worked twice.

For those not blinded by the cheap timeshare salesman's patter, crap transfers, unsustainable wages, jobs for the boys, and no real ambition beyond just eeking out survival year on year see him for the out-of-his-depth chancer that he is.

The take the money and run approach to flogging our best asset this summer is further cause of concern, as cynically I suspect he's ramping up his exit strategy of asset strip and flog to some oaf.

He's like Ron Noades with charm.

I think you are being harsh with some of your comments.
Parish is a very successful businessman and a passionate Palace fan.I think that combination can sometimes be a strength and sometimes a weakness. His preference for employing former players is one that most people question and I know for a fact that he has been told this by personal friends of his that he should think twice about this.

He is ambitious for the club. He's demonstrated that by the fees ( and wages ) he paid for Benteke and Sakho. Obviously one of those in particular has turned out to be bad business but hindsight is a wonderful thing.

In my opinion, one of the biggest frustrations in 6 years of being in the Premier League is that the scouting network and transfer policy are not up to scratch.

I don't believe he has any intention to asset strip the club. He fully realises the need to attract significant investment and if he wanted to sell to the first person
that came along he's had opportunities to do so.

As for the PR side of things - what message would you have him deliver ? All football clubs present the positive spin on their products and Palace are no different.

Yeah that’s probably fair. Where Parish comes short is football matters. Too many times he’s got it wrong, but then re-signing Wilf against Pulis’s wishes has been one of the biggest decisions for us in years, but at some point we face reality of evolving without him, and maximum ability to do so.

He has hired the right emergency managers after either the previous one has walked or been sacked (not FDB after Allardyce), although Pulis and Allardyce were so obvious even Alan Carr could’ve got those right. The one he surprised a lot of us with was Hodgson after FDB. That was far from obvious.

One thing that’s been commented recently is how you hear Parish 24/7 when he’s done something good but when it’s gone a bit wrong you don’t hear from him for months sometimes.

As ever with replacing people or people taking over, it all depends on who they’ll be rather than blindly wanting the current out, and actually Parish would be very useful as an operating head if we’re sold to a mega wealthy buyer, which is what we require or there’s no point.

My preference would be for the chairman to deliver no messages at all just like most other Premiership clubs.

You don't hear the chairmen of Manchester City clamouring for air time as it's the manager who does all the talking. Same with Manchester United, Liverpool and all the other Premiership clubs.

Think about the clubs that have high profile chairmen constantly wanting media attention like Cardiff, Blackpool and Hull and they are clubs that we don't want to be likened to

I was responding to the '' PR machine '' comment made by ChrisGC which I took to refer to communications sent to fans by the club.

As for other media attention, I would say that Parish is more accessible than the Glazers, John Henry and Co. but yes he does seem to enjoy being in the spotlight.

I'm glad he has cut back on some of his social media interactions as they were certainly not doing him any favours albeit they were born out of a desire to have direct communication with supporters

The original post (I think) made reference to the club's media department rather Steve Parish himself.

Nontheless I quite like the fact that we have fan owners who communicate with fans through the media.

OP here - pointing out Parish's flaws (only one 'r') is fair game of course, but as the usual transfer window procrastination goes ahead, to his knockers I say just this, he's no Mike Ashley, he wouldn't let this club get relegated twice the way that scheister did, when we've stared down the gun barrel he's always reacted with the utmost decisiveness, yes I'd prefer more long term strategy, but the money he spent for Big Sam speaks loudest, and I don't think the new stand idea bears comparison to the move back to Crystal Palace Park, that was empty PR but the new stand is simply a necessity if we are to stay in the prem for the long haul, and that his track record should shout at you is Parish's main aim.

I don't hate the bloke but I certainly don't think he is God like some idiots on here.
I do actually find myself picking more at the mistakes he has made than I probably normally would in order to balance it up a bit. I wont lie, the 'he saved the club therefore can do no wrong' brigade (and there seems to be plenty of them) get up my hooter!
People that have that kind of outlook in life generally irritate me.
None of us are above criticism.
