What do you think sam had written in this ‘document’ in what it would take he sent to the club then? I thought Luka was a sam target but it sounded like he wasn’t. Sakho I think came as a surprise, possibly by Parish, which again proves how serious Parish knew things were. This whole thing of sam being the devil incarnate is so ridiculous I can imagine many giving him grief in a holiday resort and then sh1tting it in their hotel room or avoiding him after he goes ‘boo’ and makes you freeze in fear. He did the job he presented, left us with good players rather than garbage but wasn’t interested in working miracles or these cycles of over and underspending with little in the way of scouting or expertise at the training ground. Look at what happened with FDB. Shambles.

if i remember correctly we went almost 4 games without a shot in target under [ defamatory comment removed by moderator ]. in response to the original question...we would have almost certainly wasted a lot of money on tosun. Edited by Midlands Eagle (16 Jun 2019 10.57am)

Edited by Midlands Eagle (16 Jun 2019 10.57am) I think you need to rethink your accusations. We (Parish?) tried to sign Tosun in the summer of 2017 under FDB with a week left of the window for £12 mil. Sam signed him at Everton for £27 mil about 5 months later in January 2018. We tried to loan or buy him off Everton but they wanted £20 mil. Everton are likely to be charged more and going by his performances in the champions league after we gave his club no time to find a replacement it’s hardly surprising his price rose. There is no proof he wouldn’t have succeeded in a team including Luka, cabaye and RLC with Zaha and Townsend. He looked better with games stretched, which is how we’ve succeeded on the counter attack. He wouldn’t have been thrown in either until Benteke got injured at Man City and sam probably looked and expected it to happen. Roy has done really well under pressure. It’s just when more is possible under much less pressure he stays cautious. Sam could probably foresee this stuff. No issue from me. Edited by Rudi Hedman (16 Jun 2019 11.42am)

Edited by Rudi Hedman (16 Jun 2019 11.42am) spin it however you like, he fooked off after a few months after spending a small fortune, because he knew he wouldn't have the same thrown at him again in the summer. in truth we actually dodged a bullet him him packing his bags. and your memory seems a bit hazy...you seem to forget that pape souare was a very good full back for us before his freak injury.

My memory isn’t hazy. We went into the season with 6 defenders in including one full back - Souare. Criminal. We also had the excuse called Zeki Fryers added to that grand total of 6. That is shambolic. The car crash is not an excuse. He could’ve broken his leg on the pitch. You don’t go into the season with one player in a specialised position like left back plus Zeki Fryers. Allardyce left and what did we do? Started the next season with one forward after offering besiktas the minimum for Tosun without enough time to find a replacement. I forget when niasse had a similar late approach and failed for different reasons but proves why Allardyce didn’t want or need it. We’re lucky a local boy wants it maybe. Otherwise maybe nobody respectable then and now would. I just wish it wasn’t so dull.

Perhaps you are correct and he didn’t want his limitations exposed. Roy seems to have coped very well without buying, showing a good manager that can work with the players he has.
