Yes the pairing of Ruddock and Morrison at the back must surely be the heaviest ever (not to mention the slowest)

Matt Lawrence was pretty awful. A hobbit at centre half just doesn't for it. I remember him ducking and giving a striker a hat trick from three crosses. Bristol City?

Let's keep the ball this season!

With respect, you're wrong on this one. He played well for Palace at a difficult time.

OK, so we now know what you had for pudding today, but who gets your vote as Worst Defender?

John Lacey - I could never believe that he was supposed to be a professional footballer - hopeless!
It seemed that his legs weren't connected to his body and brain!

Haha.

Does sound a bit that way eh.

He was woeful though.

Sadly PVA is definitely in the running here, as any Sunderland fan will tell you.

Shame because he can look useful going forward and weighs in with the occasional goal, but as a defender he is awful. Not the worst we’ve ever had though

Sad to say that Calamity Claude was nowhere near the worst we have ever had. Cannon was the only decent one for several seasons. Can't remember most of the others of the eighties - probably repressing memories.

All I can say is that looking at all these posts weve had a bloody lot of awful defenders over the years!
