Remember AWB only got a game due to injuries, was a winger not a full back.

Look how that turned out.

We won't get much in the transfer market being priced out everywhere maybe a free agent or two?

So who is coming through, we need a couple more AWBs at least.

He started off as a winger but I believe he had been converted into a right-back before he was given his chance in the first team.

Zaha commented that he didn't like playing against AWB in training. He said he was a hard defender to play against because somehow he manages to toe everything away.

I would have been nice to see one or two youngsters given a chance in the remaining games, but having seen a fair bit of the U23s I don't think anyone is close.
I think the main hope would be for Kirby to develop next year to a regular in the squad.

4 Every club buys some duds, if you can name a club where every signing is a success, feel free. Your comments regarding Guaita are churlish, for a free transfer he has been excellent, Speroni cant catch crosses and is a club legend.

5. Jordan dismantled the Academy, it takes time to re establish. 3 players in 10 1 years Clyne, Zaha and AWB.

I can see none of the players we want to keep leaving, with a few decent additions now the FFP has been reset and we will be fine.

What do you mean when you say FFP has been reset?

I do wonder how many u23 games the people crying out for young players to be given a chance have actually seen.

I agree with your assessment although I wonder if Luke Dreher might be another contender. Feeling his way back from injury, I thought he did OK against Leeds a couple of weeks back.

Basically the amortisation of our current contracts with players is being written down each year. The spending spree we had under Pardew and Allardyce, pushed us nearly in breach of FFP, spending more than you earn in simple terms.
It gets reset each year in line with your revenue and amortised contracts and wages. As we have been prudent in the last 18 months purchases and got rid of some peripheral players, we are no longer near the FFP limit.
This is a simple overlook of a very complex set of rules.

Thanks. How confident do you feel that you understand it? This is a sincere question, not a passive aggressive one (if it comes across like that). My simpler view had, until I read this, been that our trailing expenditure on players' wages was extraordinarily high as a proportion of our revenue, likely taking us to the brink of FFP.

Meyer has been a disaster.

Very erratic scores from our lot this season, seems to be no consistency at all anywhere.

2. Wilf was happy last season. Then came the summer. This season he isn’t. You may be right in that he doesn’t leave, because he’s been so disappointing mostly, partly down to Wilf and Foy.

4. The problem with a keeper being excellent for a free transfer may not be good enough when it comes down to it. He has very little presence. I was hopeful at first because despite that near gaffe vs Vardy I thought he was pretty good on the ball, but he’s a keeper and I get the impression he’s never going to master the aerial part of prem football. SPeroni had his faults (flapping v QPR at home, needlessly coming off his line vs Coventry etc), but I make him much better than Guaita, who’ll get targeted with balls he can’t deal with. Prem managers are more ruthless as we go.

Some duds? How about too many? Jack, Rakip, Schlupp (in addition to PVA) because we didn’t buy a LB 4 months before, Meyer, who Roy doesn’t want but Parish did, and the evidence was the photo shoot stunt thing.

5. I agree. I said so when some were thinking FDB would be producing stars within a few years. I said it would probably be after he left, and by that I meant a decent run as manager.

I thought I said before 2010, meaning after they bought the club for a few million. Clyne had been playing regularly before then under Warnock, and at left back.

I want what’s best for us and I’m not one to convince myself some things are great when I see there’s issues. Hopefully things will improve.
