Spurs announced a World record 113m profit in their most recent accounts. If they want a player bad enough they can make it very difficult for that players club to say no. More interesting question: is how can they announce that sort of profit, when they have been renting Wembley for 2 years, spending a reported billion pounds on a new stadium. They haven't spent much on players recently and I doubt they have paid off the new stadium by a long way. I suspect some creative accounting with the stadium costs hidden away to be paid over time, being a drain on any future income for some years.

Letting good players go is the easy part, replacing them with quality seems to be our achilles heel. We have been woeful in recruitment with a number of players over the last few years. Watford and Wolves seem to find relatively cheap quality players. What are our scouts doing?

The profit, probably comes from the sale of the old White Hart Lane, then the cost of the new stadium will be written down over the life time of the asset!

The stadium costs will be capitalised and will probably be amortized over 50 years but the amortisation won't have started in their last year end
