this could all have been resolved at the start of WW2 if Eamon de Valera believed what Churchill said about uniting Ireland and joined us against the Nazis apparently

Theresa may put forward a motion and voted against it in the same day!

It is quite possible that, having been sentenced to death by us, De Valera had some antipathy after to the British.

De Valera has a lot to answer for. Under his leadership he gave the church massive influence in everyday Irish life especially in education. It has taken the Irish around 70 years to roll that unhealthy influence back and become a modern European democratic state. Michael Collins wasn't a fan of his either.

I noticed on Twitter that the guy who murdered Airey Neave is not only a Peadophile, but is openly running a bar in Spain. We couldn't extradite the scumbag because of EU Human right laws? Don't you just love the EU?

These soldiers murdered innocent civilians in cold blood. They were unarmed and posed no threat, some were little more than children, that is what the Saville findings found, and Prime Minister Cameron apologised for. They did not face court-martial and the troubles escalated as a result of their actions, with loss of life on all sides including the army itself. Their victims are dead, they are not. I am sure Earl Mountbatten and Airey Neave would agree wholeheartedly with your post

Was it not the RAF that started mass bombing of civilians in March 1940? I can’t understand why the RMPs weren’t all over this. Unarmed civilians shot in the back and when attending the wounded. There is no bravery in that, only cowardice. I am sure there was some armed threat but this has always appeared to me to be indiscriminate killing. I don’t think the paras were in fear for their lives, just angry and out of control. In any other sphere of life they would be held to account. They can’t be above the law.
Can't agree with this statement. I had a very good friend who served in NI and they feared for their lives every single day

So alleged war crimes shouldn’t be properly investigated and taken to court just because it’s ‘one of our own’? We could always start by sending Blair to The Hague
