agreed it would be a bad thing but that is the situation - the club is worth a lot more money because of those two long term contracts and the US owners may want to get their hands on that money one way or the other currently the increased value of Wilf and Aaron is money that is in the club. That value could be brought back to the shareholders by selling them in the summer. But if there was resistance to selling them, say by Parish, that might upset the American shareholders So instead they sell their shares to someone else who is potentially more hostile and will attempt to remove Steve Parish and do as they please to get a quick return on their money. An unlikely scenario but as Harris and Blitzer are experienced sports investors and don't see any future return on continuing to invest - particularly in the new stand - then what are the prospects of finding someone who buys in [literally] to Parish's ideas for the club? The big money overseas investors who just chuck their money at football like its FIFA 2019 usually want to have their fun running the club not ceding control to a minority shareholder like Parish. The current value of the club probably means we won't get Browett / Hoskins buying back in to restore the original CPFC 2010 - which would be the nicest option. Edited by mileend (09 Mar 2019 11.15am) Two possible type of investors. The type above or the super rich who wish to own a football club as a plaything as you say. Either and SP might be sidelined, although I'm not sure if the Yanks hold enough for these scenarios.

Its a logistical bottleneck. however, the old athletics track is ripe for demolition and putting something ambitious in its place. and then Sainsbury's are welcome to rot in hell. Hasn't that been tried before with the locals kicking up a stink and the council backing them ? I don't live in the area but is there anywhere big enough for a Palace development, beyond supposedly moving to Crawley ?

I am not really sure of the figures involved but most investors in football clubs would like to increase the value of their investment whilst spending as little as possible, and many investors over the years lose more than they gain, so perhaps with big money needed for redevelopment very soon would it add value to their investment, maybe but could be risky quit while ahead ? Don't see that in the PL

Let's hope it isn't a Colonel Gaddaffi type buy out.

Certainly nothing around Crawley. Purley Way, the old aerodrome site is probably big enough but would never get approved because of traffic congestion. CP Park is the obvious place, if only it was controlled by Croydon Council.

It's not just Bromley council that is the issue. At the top of Crystal Palace parade 5 London boroughs intersect. Whilst Bromley would be the main council you would still have to deal with the other 4 and Mayor Cannot over congestion, noise , transport etc. Then of course there would be the friends of Crystal palace park plus the residents etc. I think Parish saw that he had to deal with too many interested parties. From their side they see a Premier League club which means money so they would all like to wet their beaks. Edited by Badger11 (10 Mar 2019 9.01am)

Highly credible given that the journalist in question broke all the news on this. We really want owners who know the game OR a billionaire who's prepared to spend big. Benteke was such a disaster financially and they led that one. 50m spunked. Edited by Ginger Pubic Wig (12 Mar 2019 11.56am)

I see our partial redevelopment as the right direction unless we get an owner who has the money to build a stadium like Spurs in which case we would have to move out to say the M25/A23 area or M25/A22 area which would be where land might be available and car access far better. To build the best stadium South of the river with easy access to Gatwick and the motorway network would be a real coup, although probably just a pipe dream.

Great timing to be releasing this news. Just before a home game against major rivals. Good job.

A lot of Palace fans want to stay at Selhurst. It is all unbelievably short sighted.

This from Sports Pro today Joshua Harris and David Blitzer, the Wall Street-based owners of Premier League side Crystal Palace, are looking to sell their stake in the top-flight English soccer club just three years after investing in the team, according to Bloomberg. According to Bloomberg, Harris and Blitzer have enlisted PJT Partners to handle the sale, and have already held talks with at least one US-based financial firm. The Americans, who also own the National Basketball Association’s (NBA) Philadelphia 76ers and the National Hockey League’s (NHL) New Jersey Devils through their Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment company, acquired stakes in Palace in late 2015. Along with club chairman Steve Parish, the two men each own an 18 per cent controlling share in the South London outfit. Bloomberg added that a spokeswoman for Harris declined to comment, as did PJT Partners, while Blitzer did not respond to an email seeking confirmation that the club are up for sale. Crystal Palace talisman Wilfried Zaha signs with 424 The latest period for which financial results are available show that Palace achieved record annual revenues of UK£142.7 million during the 2016/17 season, owing largely to their share of the Premier League’s broadcast rights revenue. Perhaps significantly, Harris and Blitzer were among the owners who unsuccessfully fought to keep an even share of the league’s international TV money. Starting from next season, the top clubs will get a bigger piece of the pie after it was announced that distribution of international rights revenue will be allocated based on each team’s final position in the table. Harris and Blitzer were the first investors to come on board at Palace after they were rescued from administration in 2010 by a consortium of local businessmen, including the aforementioned Parish. Since then, the club have enjoyed their longest stay in the Premier League and last year unveiled UK£100 million plans to upgrade their Selhurst Park home, although work failed to begin as planned last summer. On the pitch, Palace dropped to 14th in the Premier League at the weekend after their 2-1 defeat at home to rivals Brighton & Hove Albion. They travel to Watford for their FA Cup quarter-final clash on Saturday.
