Good old racist Lammy, always good for a laugh at his complete lack of self awareness. Here's a man living a comfortable, relatively successful life purely because he's black. And what's he done to help his roots? Supposedly refused to go to Africa for comic relief and speaks out against stop and search, enabling young blacks in gangs to murder eachother. Figuratively he's whiter than the woman he attacked, at least she's on the front line (although I do agree there's a massive element of virtue signalling with these celebs) whereas he's battling fellow elitists Abbott and Chukka in their frenzied attempts to keep suckling at the establishments teat. The man, as you say, has zero self awareness and his comments are racist. To criticise someone for being charitable and well meaning is bad enough, to do so on the grounds of race is pathetic, and to then discover that he himself turned down the offer to help the same charity is beyond belief. If Mr Lammy has a better idea then fine.. tell us what you've actually done for the people of Africa, Mr Lammy? If you can drag yourself away from your comfortable existence. Respect to Stacey Dooley for her dignified response to this nonsense and to Comic Relief for highlighting that Lammy turned down the same offer in favour of doing.. well, nothing.

Quote Lammy - "It’s not about me making a nice film, but about Comic Relief giving some of their very privileged platform on the BBC to the hundreds of African comedians, filmmakers, celebrities and everyday people who live on the continent.
Also, his whole argument is rather stupid. Comic relief is shown on British TV to a British audience and features well known British celebrities. It's entire purpose is to raise as much money as possible by using the profile of well known individuals. Replacing everyone on screen with African talent is a waste of time as nobody would know who the hell they are and consequently less money would be raised. If we want to televise Africa's Got Talent, then great go for it, but if we want to actually raise as much money as humanly possible during Comic Relief and get the public engaged then I for one am happy for us to send both our black and our white saviours.

I get the logic David Lammy is putting forward Having worked on slum developments in India and Sri Lanka, it is undoubtedly crucial for local people to drive the agenda themselves. Aid agencies should support that but can't replace local leadership I also agree that the portrayal of Africans as victims has unintended effects. As for Stirling's concept that Africans will always be poorer because they are thicker, the mind simply boggles. Take Africans out of Africa and give them the same opportunities as others and miraculously their IQ increases to match or exceed those others. What I don't like is the implied criticism that white people trying to help are doing it for selfish reasons or are misguided. If expat people with African forebears want to take a greater role in helping Africa to develop then they should step up. I don't really see they have a greater right than white people - unless they are African born - but maybe the optics are marginally better. Don't knock 'do-gooders' or good won't get done. 1st bold 2nd bold. India has slums and huge poverty, I wonder what the comparible IQ to Africa is? In any case the crucks of the matter is one human went to help another human. David lammy only sees colour as the issue, he is racist.

But...didn’t the human race originate in Africa? So anyone who goes there is going home.

The idea that Africans aren’t helping themselves is a racist misconception The idea our development aid is imposed is also wrong DFID isn’t stupid. Aid is always linked to working with local people. I know this as I have worked for three international aid agencies Some right nonsense being spouted. Edited by Mapletree (01 Mar 2019 9.08am)

This is about the best place to study Did you pause to consider the issue of pensions - or lack thereof? And by the way, Africa isn't a country and there are very many flavours within the continent. Here is another of my projects. I was working for the Japanese on this one

I'm pleased Dooley is standing up for the cause rather than the purile comments Stacey Dooley has always come across to me as an unauthentic, self serving idiot. It does however not mean that she is wrong though. That said, I would. So damn would.
