I was there. Probably the only time I went onto the pitch afterwards. Saw my first in November 66 against Norwich 0-0.

My first was a couple of weeks before that Norwich game and beat Northampton 5-0. A great start, with Kember and Barry Dyson scoring a couple of the goals. I was 13 and went with some mates from Reigate Grammar School ( in the days it was a county school). I was at the Norwich game too and distant memory recalls it was pretty dire with a yellow bus “parked”.

In between I think Millwall away 1-1. We had no concept of any issue going there and the only trouble we had was coming out of a different exit and not being able to find New Cross Gate station.

I got vision, and the rest of the world wears bifocals.

Congratulations on watching 50 years of Crystal Palace A1969EAGLE.

So many remarkable memories and games during that time no doubt.

My first Palace game was 5th April 1980 (aged 9), a 1-1 draw at home to BHA with Jim Cannon scoring an equaliser and just the most incredible day and amazing memories in so many ways.

Here’s to a victory at The Emirates to mark your special day in style!

Huge congratulations to you A1969Eagle, for riding the Palace roller coaster for 50 years. I certainly was at your first game, what a season you chose to start supporting. Your mention of the Palace Dollies reminded me of our next neighbour in Church Rd at that time, Shirley Saville, who was the dollies organiser.
My first game was towards the end of the 1951-52 season aged 5. I wish I could say I remembered who our opponents were, but sadly I can't. I went by train with my Dad from West Norwood with no idea of where we were going. He shoved me down the front on the halfway line of what is now the Arthur, and the rest as they say is history. My season ticket is in that area of the stand, having returned to the Arthur a couple of seasons ago after many years in the Lower Holmesdale.COYP.

Trutth be told I can’t remember my first game but the first match I have memories of was in ‘67 standing amongst a massive crowd on the Holmesdale when we beat Wolves 4-1 and Danny Light was the man........

Mind you of that time Jackson, Sewell, Blyth, Kember and particularly Bobby Woodruff were even more memorable!

Always remembering walking from the Holmesdale to the Whitehorse end at half time!

I don't know how you lot remember that far back and what game it was...all I can remember about my first game, it was either the 1961/2 season or the 1962/3 season.I was 5 or 6 years old.

No idea who we played but seeing the Selhurst Park pitch for the first time gave me the goosebumps.....still get them occasionally.

About the same time as me. My first game 29/4/61 a 1-0 home win against York. Was sitting in the stand (now main stand),

This got me thinking...hard. It's a hell of a long time ago since watching my first game in what was the old League Division 4. April 1960 when we beat Exeter by a single goal. I was hooked. It was just after my 7th birthday. Many happy memories. We usually stood on the hill at the Whitehorse road end. Memories are of colourful rosettes, rattles, Bovril at half time, plus peanuts at 6 old pence a bag. Happy days indeed. Such a long time ago, but still enjoying/suffering in equal measure 59 years later......

A few years later the schoolboy YT used to get the Green Line bus from Bexleyheath to watch Danny play for Dartford FC.

Cheers for that. Often wondered what he got up to in football later and after that too I suppose!

Wow. Just needed to do a bit of googling. My first match was 28.12.68 vs Blackpool, 1-1, abandoned at half time! Freezing! Stood on the Holmesdale, taken by my brother. My cousin was part of the 'Holmesdale Hundred' - the original HF! I was 10, and loved it, still fanatical, don't get up too often as it costs, but Wilf, Christian and all stare down on us from the kitchen calendar and my scarf takes pride of place in our lounge. Our Mum passed away last week in a care home in Brighton, (!!), funnily enough my bro had a dream last week also...Mum had £40k to leave, and couldn't remember whether she was leaving it for the church roof. or for a roof on the Holmesdale! I was able to tell my bro that unfortunately it was the church roof! (just a dream, bit like living Palace...) Also, 28 December is now my wedding anniversary, so no reason to forget either! Ha! COYP!

I recall the days when at half-time hordes of supporters used to move to stand behind the goal we were attacking and the toilet rolls being hurled on to the pitch from the Holmesdale Terrace. And of course 'The Flatterer'.
Not forgetting the rosettes, rattles, claret and blue walking sticks and Mrs Minchella the peanut lady !

I just looked him (Danny Light) up on Wiki. Not a lot there, but sadly he died in 2014 aged just 66.

I first went in 1954 but "The Flatterer" doesn't mean anything to me. Could you please enlighten me?
