No, the right back Jamie Smith.

I recall Jamie Smith who apart from right-back could play as a right wing-back or on the right of midfield.Tenacious player who had a tendency to dive in and make rash challenges. He had real pace,a long throw and was good coming forward but there were question marks about his defending.

Never booked in his career with Palace, or his previos club, Charlton i believe.

"Shovelfoot" was a great player for us back in the day. Remember him with great affection especially for that goal he scored against Leeds Utd. I was standing halfway up the Holmesdale terrace that day and couldn't believe that Gary Sprake made such a balls of it.

Got to say, AWB is f***ing excellent in this regards.

To be doing it successfully in this league, at the pace they play, against the best players in the world...

It will be absolutely criminal if he doesn't get blooded for England by the end of the season.

Always considered Jamie to be pretty average but he did like to mix it.

None more so than when he totally cleaned Zamora out at White Hart Lane in the Cup. Totally worthy of a red card - which was shown to Danny Butterfield in error !

I have always wondered why was his nickname Doris ??

Well, as I recall he was pretty dreadful when he first started playing for us as a striker and I suspect that was when he was first called Doris. I could be wrong but I think it was because he was considered a right old woman. Then he just got better and better when moved to full back.

That is correct and the hair on his head just put the icing on the cake, then he was moved to the back and became absolutely brilliant! ..the name stuck but affectionately.
