Hes signing for free as a back up to what we currently have on lower wages than he was on before. Originally posted by The Dolphin
If he comes back then I may well hand back my season ticket.

Well, not exactly an inspiring transfer but in terms of attacking back up we've had worse. If we have another decent signing or two lined up then no problem with it, if this is all we're getting then it's poor really.
We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the drugs began to take hold... |

I knew when I wrote it that I was wrong but I was so keen to rant that common sense did not prevail - apologies!

This is a no risk signing providing it is just to the end of the season. Our squad is desperately light and at his best he's not a bad option from the bench. He also knows the squad, the manager and seems a good bloke to have around.
Agreed. Think it's a move that clearly reflects our financial situation and does add some needed depth. Parish states on the palaceTV interview that after Perri there maybe 1 or at a push 2 signings. So after Sako I won't be holding my breath for any others. Just hope Bakary can add some goals and Benteke/Wickham can stay fit and bag a few goals (fingers and toes crossed but I do believe they've got it in them). Hopefully this low spending season will free up some funds for some investment in the future over the summer.

As for the "we have lost 7 players" - everyone said it was madness having low quality back up just to have numbers - now people are saying we need the numbers regardless of who they are?

Minimal downside but also minimal upside really. If we were determined to resign an old winger who had just failed at a Championship club I'd have preferred Bolasie who potentially has a far higher ceiling to reach again but there you go.

Perhaps he asked more than he was worth and/or didn't want to come back? Also, at Fernabace he may get regular game time and European football. Can we promise him that? Not likely. They're nearer relegation than European qualification and he's already cup tied this year. The club have halved Sako's wages at least, by only having him for half the season.
Optimistic as ever |

Hopefully, this wholesale clear out and good housekeeping does not come back and bite us in the bum should we suffer some unforeseen injury to key players resulting in our relegation. What false economy that would prove to be.

I can’t see why this is a surprise. My thoughts exactly. From what I recall, the only reason he wasn't still a Palace player was his agent telling not to accept a pay cut & that he'd get better elsewhere.
Will this be five? It's gonna be five! It IS five! |

There are Villa fans that will tell you Yala is not worth the £70k+ a week he's on & we can't afford that kind of salary on a back up player.
