Great, that makes me feel a whole lot better. Did you qualify in clinical psychology, psychiatry or both? Or maybe you are one of those that thinks specialists are over-rated and would quite happily perform your own aortal by-pass. There will be many people on this site, possibly the majority, affected by mental health issues. Your statement is unthinking, uncaring and inappropriate. Indeed it is. It's also complete, utter and total bollocks.

Take it or leave it. If it has any influence on how you feel, especially considering it wasn't aimed at you, that's for you to internalise. Your reaction does demonstrate my point though. The world really has gone soft if such an insignificant expression of an opinion (by a stranger) can provoke such strong sentiment.

It is a deeply unpleasant opinion and the pernicious nature of it is contributory to the types of problems we are discussing. As you are new here you probably don't know that until recently I was working in mental health. Telling people to 'man up' and similar approaches can be very dangerous and is simply foolish. So I am pointing out that, yet again, your opinion is based on a completely flawed understanding.

Even now that I know this, I'm not inclined to put stock by it. You'd be much better served "Manning up" then worrying about my opinion on the matter. Edited by ChrisGC (15 Jan 2019 10.48pm)

It’s great that you acknowledge your opinions are in no way based on any understanding of the subject matter I just hope nobody accidentally takes them seriously

I thought he had retired. Then I saw him get whipped in Aus. He looked pretty stiff. So why tearfully retire then play? Guy needs a shrink and a p.r. man

Has it gone soft or is it that people are finally realising the devastating effects of mental health?? I spent 18 years in the Police.. hi saw unimaginable things.. I had people die in my arms. Dealt with dead babies and children... Went to a road accident where someone had been decapitated... had to tell people that their husband, wife, son daughter had been killed... The ironic thing is, is that I had an attitude like yours... I just considered as part of life and that anyone complaining needed to 'man up' Then 2 and a half years ago following a serious car accident I nearly lost my leg... Ever since I have suffered with anxiety and panic attacks... Two things I thought were just made up... I can honestly say they are bloody awful things to suffer from... I was then sent to a consultant psychiatrist, who was one of the top guys in the country and was diagnosed with severe PTSD.... Should I just 'man up' and get over it??
Don't waste your time with jealousy. Sometimes your ahead, sometimes your behind, the race is long. But in the end it's only with yourself!! |

Yes. Stop f*cking digging. I can only assume you joined this site to cause upset. If you did not I suggest you send a PM to those you have upset and then wind in your neck. In the same way as for any other catastrophic medical issue, the 'alternative' must be to obtain treatment. And that treatment, funnily enough, is unlikely to be someone saying 'man up'. Edited by Mapletree (16 Jan 2019 3.11pm) Your assumption is wrong, I only answered a question honestly that was directed at me. If this upsets you, like with all my other posts that you keep responding to as a personal attack when they are not directed your way, then you'd be best served just ignoring me, or indeed: manning up. I'm starting to suspect you spend all of your time checking my profile for fresh posts to respond to. Back on topic, and I see that after fresh defeat there is talk of Murray potentially not retiring and instead having hip surgery before deciding whether to return.
